    • A computing system receives input data having both graph and unstructured data and computes a current log likelihood of the input data. The computing system compares the current log likelihood with a previous log likelihood of the input data. If the current log likelihood is larger than the previous log likelihood, the computing system update topic modeling parameters, community modeling parameters, and the link generation parameter until the computing system obtains a maximal value of the log likelihood of the input data. Then, the computing system creates a graph indicating topic similarity between the input data based on the topic modeling parameters, creates another graph indicating community similarity between entities associated with the input data based on the community modeling parameters, and predicts a link existence between input data or entities based on the link generation parameter, the topic modeling parameter and the community modeling parameter.

    • A physical object is provided that comprises a base medium, such as a paper sheet, and multiple memory tags embedded in it or attached to it. At least one of the memory tags stores location data concerning a location relationship between the object and one or more of the tags. The location data can comprise, for example, tag-location data giving the location in or on the object of the or each tag concerned, or area-of-responsibility data indicating the area of the object's surface for which the or each tag concerned has responsibility in terms of storing related data items such as print data items. Apparatus is provided for writing the location data; apparatus is also provided for subsequently using and displaying the location data particularly for facilitating access to data items stored by the tags.

    • The invention provides a method and apparatus using infrared thermography for predicting an unknown value of an internal composition characteristic of velvet antler in vivo, in vitro, and/or during cooling or warming. The method involves generating a predictive model using a sample population of antlers to determine a relationship between a known input variable and a known value for the composition characteristic; and using the predictive model to predict the unknown value of the same composition characteristic in an antler not selected from the sample population. Using this value, a map can be made to identify sites and levels of the composition characteristic within the antler. The invention provides a method for predicting an internal composition characteristic of a velvet antler by obtaining an infrared thermographic image of the antler and visually ranking the image by comparison to a corresponding image of an antler with the desired composition characteristic. A method to predict maturity by comparing temperature differences between the antler's tip and base is provided.
