    • An electronic sewing machine has a memory storing stitch control data for a number of different patterns which may be selected by designation of pattern numbers each specific to the patterns, a second memory for temporarily storing the pattern numbers as they are selected, and a display for electrically indicating the selected pattern numbers in the order as they have been stored in the second memory, maintaining a precededly displayed pattern number until the subsequent one is selected, wherein the ten-keys may be selectively operated to select any of the patterns stored in the first memory, the ten-keys indicating at least two specific ten-keys to be operated to provide at least two different two-figure numbers for changing the function of at least two function keys originally having specific functions respectively into the function for confirming at the display the selected pattern numbers in series in the order and the reverse order as they have been selected respectively, and a signal discriminating circuit, a function changing circuit and a pattern number read-out circuit are provided between the ten-keys and the second memory so as to be operated in accordance with the selective operation of the two specific ten-keys to thereby designate the selected and memorized in the second memory to appear in the two different orders in dependence upon the operation of the function keys.

    • In an electronically controlled sewing machine having a memory storing a plurality of stitch patterns among which a desired one or combination may be selectively read out therefrom to produce the same, it is detected if a pattern designated to be followed by a lock stitch pattern and memorized accordingly in the memory is of a first type which includes the last stitch to be produced by initial data stored in the memory for producing the initial stitch of the pattern, or of a second type which includes the last stitch to be produced by the last data stored in the memory for producing the last stitch of the pattern, and according to the result of the detection, the sewing machine is operated to continuously produce the lock stitch pattern after the initial data has been issued from the memory for producing the pattern of the first type or after the last data has been issued from the memory for producing the pattern of the second type. The sewing machine is automatically stopped from further operation after the lock stitch pattern has been finished.

    • A sewing machine has a rotatable shaft for operating a stitch forming device, and includes a feed dog for feeding fabric to be sewn, and a needle for forming stitches in the fabric. The machine comprises a first electronic memory for storing stitch control data and including at least the needle position control data for different patterns; pattern selecting element for reading the first memory stitch control data for a selected pattern; timing element operated synchronously with the shaft to produce a timing signal for progressively reading the stitch control data from the first memory; stitch mode changing switch element for determining an elongation rate of a selected pattern to be elongated in a fabric feeding direction; second memory element for temporarily storing designated stitch control data of the first memory element; counter element for counting the ordinals of the stitches of the selected pattern in relation to the timing signals and in accordance with the pattern elongation rate to thereby designate the pattern elongation rate and the stitch control data to be stored into the second memory element progressively during formation of the stitches of the pattern; and calculating element operable with respect to the counter element (CT1, CT2) to make a calculation to produce second stitches between the first stitches formed by the stitch control data.
