    • A support substrate having the same size as a device substrate provided with alignment marks is disposed opposite to and adhered to the back side of the device substrate. At least the face side of the device substrate on the support substrate is cut at division lines along a functional region. An organic film is formed on the functional region of the device substrate thus cut. The support substrate is cut along the functional region of the device substrate, thereby removing peripheral portions of the support substrate and the device substrate, to form a display panel. Positioning of the substrate relative to a manufacturing apparatus for each step can be performed with high accuracy, in the manufacturing process including a step of cutting the substrate to a smaller size in the course of manufacture.

    • A PWM inverter system which eliminates a switching loss and minimizes the distortion ratio of the output voltage thereof. The PWM inverter system includes a first means for producing switching signals for 3-phase modulation by which switching elements for each phase make a switching operation, a second means for producing switching signals for 2-phase modulation by which a switching operation for one phase is unnecessary, and a change-over for changing over the two means in response, for example, to a magnitude value of the inverter output voltage.

    • A power transfer device includes a first current transferring section connected between a first AC power source and a load, a second current transferring section with first and second switches which have opposite conduction directions, connected in parallel, and connected between a second AC power source and the load; a current detector for detecting a current flowing from the first AC power source to the load; a generator for generating a power transfer signal instructing transfer from the first AC power source to the second AC power source; a current direction estimator for estimating the direction of a current which flows from the first AC power source to the load when the second current transferring section enters the conduction state after a time period; and a conduction signal generator for causing one of the first and second switches to be conductive, so that the current flowing from the first AC power source to the load is cancelled, and, thereafter, causing the other of the first and second switches to be conductive.
