摘要： Electronic devices may be provided that contain wireless communications circuitry. The wireless communications circuitry may include radio-frequency transceiver circuitry with first and second ports that are coupled by switching circuitry to first and second antennas. A first receiver in the transceiver circuitry may be associated with the first port and a second receiver in the transceiver circuitry may be associated with the second port. An electronic device may be operated in a single receiver mode in which only one of the receivers is active to conserve power or a dual receiver mode in which signals from both antennas may be received in parallel to compare antenna performance. Based on antenna performance metrics, the electronic device may adjust the switching circuitry to ensure that an optimal antenna is being used.

One method includes shaping a frequency spectrum of a multi-carrier transmit signal wherein an amplitude of a plurality of subcarriers of the multi-carrier transmit signal is increased relative to at least one other subcarrier of the multi-carrier transmit signal. The shaped frequency spectrum multi-carrier transmit signal is amplified with a power amplifier, wherein a power level of an output of the power amplifier is greater than a rated power level of the power amplifier.

摘要： A system and method for determining the optimum price that a service provider should charge to customers of a periodic extended-product warranty to optimize profits generated from providing such warranties. In one aspect of the present invention the customer is allowed to elect or to cancel warranty coverage on a monthly basis which election is based in part on the customer's expected net utility from his coverage decisions. In one embodiment, the customer can be afforded complete warranty coverage flexibility in terms of his ability to turn coverage on and off whenever desired. In another aspect of the present invention the customer can be allowed to make dynamic repair or replacement decisions in each period based on the product's failure status or on other criteria. By properly modeling optimal extended-product warranty strategies from the perspective of both the customer and from the perspective of the service provider, one can compute the customers' maximum expected discounted net utility and the service provider's expected discounted profit from strategic customers.

摘要： A method for fabricating a tiered structure includes forming a gate on a semiconductor substrate. Formation of the gate includes depositing a gate foot using a gate foot mask having an opening through it to define the gate foot over the substrate. After forming the gate foot, the gate foot mask is stripped and a passivation layer is formed over the gate foot and the substrate. A gate head mask is formed over the gate foot with the gate head mask exposing a portion of the passivation layer on a top portion of the gate foot. The portion of the passivation layer on the top portion of the gate foot is removed to expose the top portion of the gate foot. A gate head is formed on the top portion of the gate foot using the gate head mask. A lift-off process is performed, removing the gate head mask.
