摘要： Methods and systems for transmitting feedback and precoding matrix indicators (PMI) include determining PMI and rank-1 or rank-2 feedback, determining a difference, referred to as a delta metric, between the PMI and its preferred feedback matrix, and transmitting the delta metric to a base station. The timing of delta metric transmissions can be based on detecting the exceeding of a threshold, intervals signaled by a base station, or other factors. Overhead may be reduced by manipulating a determined delta metric so that fewer complex values need to be transmitted and a base station can estimate values of the delta metric that are not transmitted. The delta metric may be mapped using phase and/or amplitude modulation methods. Delta metric transmissions may be repeated by alternately transmitting elements of the delta metric and complex conjugates of those elements.

摘要： Methods and apparatus for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) transmissions are disclosed. A base station may precode wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU)-specific reference signals and data that are transmitted to a WTRU using a randomly selected precoder. The precoder may be selected based on a predefined precoder selection sequence or by the base station. A different precoder may be applied to different resource blocks (RBs). In addition, a large delay cyclic delay diversity (CDD) or discrete Fourier transform (DFT) spreading may be applied on the WTRU-specific reference signals and the data. For heterogeneous deployed antennas, spatial diversity gain is achieved by dynamically scheduling resources between transmission points. A hopping scheme may be applied across the transmission points as the resources are dynamically partitioned between the transmission points. A different randomly selected precoder may be applied to each RB transmitted from a different transmission point.

摘要： A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may transmit or receive data using high-rate, dual-band cellular communications architecture. The WTRU and other wireless communication nodes or devices may utilize the millimeter wave (mmW) frequency along with the traditional cellular bands. An mmW base station (mB) and an mmW gateway node (mGW) may also communicate with the WTRU and/or an evolved Node B (eNB). Radio Network Evolution (RNE) architecture may be used for integrating mmW communications into LTE architecture. Low throughput cellular devices may be integrated with the management of mGWs using the mmW. A small-cell cloud radio access network (RAN), including a mesh-backhaul, may also be used. A plurality of protocol termination aspects for each of the different wireless communication nodes may be used in a variety of deployment scenarios.

Precoder phase information may be signaled using bit sequences that provide a degree of error tolerance in that precoder phases having large differences are signaled using bit sequences having large Hamming distances. A method comprising: receiving at a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) a precoding indicator signal representing a sequence of signaling bits corresponding to a desired precoder phase value; obtaining the desired precoder phase value by comparing the sequence of signaling bits to a plurality of predetermined sequences of signaling bits in which pairs of predetermined sequences of signaling are opposites of each other and which correspond to precoder phase values that differ by 180 degrees; and, applying a set of weighting values to a WTRU uplink signal stream transmitted over multiple antennas where the set of weighting values have a phase differential equal to the desired precoder phase value.
