    • A testing procedure and method is provided for assessing the quality or acceptability of performance of individual liquid ink electrostatic toners on individual receptor surfaces. An approximately standard drop of the individual liquid toner is placed on the receptor to be tested. The drop is pressed onto the receptor and spread on the surface of the receptor (preferably before the drop has had time to partially evaporate or to have the liquid in the drop absorb or naturally spread on the receptor surface) under controlled conditions. The characteristics of the spread drop on the receptor surface are measured, and the characteristics are compared to parameters defining the characteristics expected from a liquid toner that define acceptable performance between toner and receptor. In this manner the relative performance of individual toners on individual receptor surfaces can be evaluated independent of electrostatic effects. This can be important, as the electrostatic effects bring another parameter of performance into evaluation of the compatibility of the toner and receptor and can misdirect research for adjusting their compatibility.

    • A method of maintaining a surface charge on a photoreceptor within a predetermined voltage range is provided, comprising the steps of providing a charging device adjacent to a surface of the photoreceptor, determining a reference voltage to be applied by the charging device to the photoreceptor surface to establish a first photoreceptor surface voltage, and applying the reference voltage to the surface of the moving photoreceptor with the charging device while measuring a first photoreceptor current. The method further comprises comparing the first photoreceptor current to predetermined characteristics of the photoreceptor to calculate a first output value, comparing the first output value to predetermined characteristics of the photoreceptor and calculating a first correction voltage, and applying the first correction voltage to the photoreceptor surface with the charging device to obtain a surface voltage on the photoreceptor that is within the predetermined operational voltage range.

    • An injection spraying system includes a container having a compartment configured to hold a first fluid. A valve body is removably coupled with the container and includes a mixing chamber, an inlet passageway configured to deliver a second fluid to the mixing chamber, a discharge passageway extending from the mixing chamber, a stem compartment communicating with the mixing chamber through a control orifice, and a transition passageway in fluid communication with the stem compartment. Movably disposed within the stem compartment is a metering stem having a tapered nose configured to selectively engage the control orifice. An adjustment knob is mounted to the metering stem such that rotation of the adjustment knob selectively advances and retracts the metering stem within the chamber of the meter tube. A siphoning tube has one end disposed within the compartment of the container and an opposing end in fluid communication with the transition passageway.

    • A pipe connector structure, for coaxial pipe sections having a common liner, and including a pair of flange members, constructed to be drawn together by suitable bolt or other attachment means, which flange members include flange bodies having remote flange ends that are inwardly and downwardly tapered and constructed to coact with pipe securement rings. Between such rings is a sleeve, split in two halves along a diameter thereof for positionment about the liner and constructed, if expanded radially outwardly by radial expansion of the liner, upon the application of internal pressure means, to come in contact with the inner surfaces of the machined flange members to delimit such radial expansion. Alternatively, where the liner is essentially non-radially expandable, then gaps in the split sleeve can be closed and such sleeve and flanges can act conjointly as to the liner to counteract radial liner burst pressures. Pipe ends to be coupled together are positioned against interior shoulders of the split sleeve. Frusto-conical split pipe-gripping rings directly about opposite ends of the sleeve and coact with the flange members to make up the coupling and grip the pipe sections.
