    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat belt apparatus for a vehicle, which apparatus can suppress the excessive increase of the belt tension by appropriately changing the winding length of the belt according to the riskiness when necessity for quickly binding a crew member by the seat belt according to the running state of the vehicle, and by suppressing the winding operation longer than some definite length in winding the seat belt at a relatively high speed. SOLUTION: The seat belt apparatus 10 for the vehicle comprises a belt reel 22 for winding the belt thereon, a motor 23 for rotationally driving the belt reel, a control unit 26 for controlling electric power to be supplied to the motor, and a turned position detecting section 25 for detecting the turned position of the belt reel. The control unit comprises a means for supplying the electric power related to a specified constant current to the motor in a specified running state of the vehicle, and a means for supplying the electric power for keeping the specified turned position when it has been judged that the belt reel has arrived at the specified turned position based on the turned position detected by the turned position detecting section during the supply of the electric power related to the specified constant current.
