    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mandrel having excellent drawability more inexpensively compared to a conventional case.SOLUTION: A mandrel 1 includes a metallic core wire 2 and a resin outermost layer 3 coating an outer periphery of the metallic core wire 2. The resin outermost layer 3 is composed of polymethylpentene, and when its crystallinity degree is estimated by using differential scanning calorimetry, heat of fusion is 35 J/g or more and less than 38.5 J/g. A method of manufacturing the mandrel 1 includes: an extrusion coating process of forming the resin outermost layer 3 by extruding polymethylpentene on the outer periphery of the metallic core wire 2 at 270°C or higher and 320°C or lower of an extrusion temperature to coat the outer periphery; and a cooling process of naturally cooling the resin outermost layer in a room-temperature space immediately after the extrusion coating process.
