A correction coefficient KMON2, which is set in accordance with the degree of deterioration of a three-way catalyst, is used to correct the timer value tmMON2 used to measure the time extending from the time at which the output of the O2 sensor is changed when the air-fuel ratio is increased, until the time at which the output of the O2 sensor is changed. When the corrected timer value tmMON2 is smaller than a reference time TNOxREF, it is ascertained that deterioration of the NOx purification device has occurred.

摘要： In order to prevent degradation of an operational mode and a fuel consumption of an internal combustion engine at the time when raising the temperature of a catalyst poisoned NOx absorbent for removing the accumulated sulfur compounds, an exhaust purifying apparatus is provided in an exhaust pipe 22 connected to an internal combustion engine 11. The exhaust purifying apparatus comprises an air-fuel ratio controlling device for controlling the air-fuel ratio, and a fuel feeder for feeding fuel upstream of said nitrogen oxide absorbent; a temperature raising device for raising the temperature of the nitrogen oxide absorbent by feeding fuel by means of said fuel feeder, when the absorbing capability of the nitrogen oxide absorbent is catalyst poisoned by the accumulated sulfur compounds; and a restoring device for restoring the nitrogen oxide absorbing capability of said nitrogen oxide absorbent by controlling the air-fuel ratio so as to be made richer than the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio by said air-fuel ratio controlling device.

摘要： A method of and apparatus for purifying an exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine comprising an NOx purifying catalyst arranged in an exhaust gas passage, wherein the NOx purifying catalyst is made of a composite material containing at least one kind of element selected from alkaline metals and alkaline earth metals, at least one kind of element selected from rare earth metals, at least one kind of element selected from platinoid metals, and titanium (Ti), the NOx purifying catalyst adsorbing NOx in the exhaust gas onto the surface when the exhaust gas is lean, and reducing the adsorbed NOx to N2 when the exhaust gas is stoichiometric or rich, and wherein the exhaust gas is purified by adsorbing NOx in the exhaust gas in the NOx purifying catalyst when the internal combustion engine is being operated under a lean condition, and by setting, after the adsorption, the exhaust gas to a stochiometric state or a rich state for 0.5 second to 4.5 seconds to reduce the NOx adsorbed in said NOx purifying catalyst to N2 through catalytic reaction with the reducing agent.

摘要： A laser recording device adapted for use in a facsimile system in which a semiconductor laser is activated by a series of pulses the number of which is produced in accordance with an input signal. The input signal is sampled with a sampling pulse signal whereas the pulses applied to the semiconductor laser are produced at a frequency which is at least two orders of magnitude greater than the frequency of the pulses used to sample the input signal. The input signal is digitized and used to address a read-only memory which outputs a number of pulses in dependence upon the amplitude of the input signal. The output number of pulses may be logarithmically related to the magnitude of the input signal.
