    • A facsimile apparatus connected to a data processing equipment having a facsimile application includes, a communication control unit having a modem for communicating to a remote terminal by communication line, a memory for storing data received from said remote terminal, an interface device connected to said data processing equipment for converting input and output signals to communicate to said data processing equipment, a controller for communicating with said data processing equipment by AT command and for converting the stored data, and wherein said controller sends the data to said data processing equipment through said interface device by AT command after converting the stored data. The controller converts a character code of a transmitter discrimination signal which is not recognized by the facsimile application to a predetermined code which is defined in group 3 standard procedure.

    • When a state, in which the temperature detected by a thermistor for detecting the temperature of a heating roller does not increase, is continued for 15 seconds, even though the printing operation is performed and a heater for heating the heating roller is energized, it is determined that the temperature of the heating roller does not increase normally. The same determination process is performed again while the printing operation is inhibited from being started with respect to a new sheet. In this determination process, when it is determined that the temperature of the heating roller increases normally, it is not determined as an error state. The printing operation is resumed. On the other hand, when it is determined that the temperature of the heating roller does not increase normally, the printing operation is inhibited.

    • An image forming apparatus includes a fixing unit for fixing a toner image. The fixing unit includes a heating roller and a pressurizing roller opposed to the heating roller and urged toward the heating roller. A unit case rotatably supports both ends of the heating roller in a longitudinal direction of the heating roller. The unit case is open at one side of the heating roller opposed to the pressurizing roller and covers the other side of the heating roller opposite to the pressurizing roller. A pair of pressurizing roller supporting bodies are respectively provided at both ends in a longitudinal direction of the unit case and rotatably support both ends of the pressurizing roller. A pair of end covers cover both the ends of the heating roller in the longitudinal direction of the heating roller.

    • Disclosed is a thermal fixing device using at least two heaters for respectively heating center and end portions of a fixing member, in which after the driving of the two heaters is stopped, thermal fixing can be re-started quickly at proper temperatures for both the center and end portions. First, in S100, a judgment is made as to whether the center portion temperature of the thermal roller exceeds 100° C. or not. When it exceeds 100° C., the procedure advances to S110, where the center heater is turned ON two seconds after turning ON the side heater. By thus turning ON the center heater two seconds after the turning ON of the side heater, it is possible to reduce the temperature difference between the two heaters to approximately 8 to 13° C. at the time point when the center heater is turned ON. In this way, the end portions of the thermal roller are heated prior to the center portion thereof, so that, as compared with the case in which the center heater and the side heater are turned ON simultaneously, the temperature difference between these portions is smaller.
