    • A grass collecting system having a grass collecting duct for transmitting grass clippings reaped by a mower unit to a grass catcher in a grass collecting position, the grass catcher being swingable to a grass discharge position. The grass collecting duct includes a top plate and right and left side plates for guiding the grass clippings from the mower unit to the grass catcher. An outlet portion is defined by an end of a space surrounded by the top plate and the right and left side plates. A grass clippings discharge path is formed for transmitting the grass clippings received from said mower unit, from the outlet portion (6B) of the grass collecting duct (6) into the grass catcher (5). A bottom plate unit (63) disposed in the outlet portion to be swingable about a pivot shaft (73) from a guide position for preventing falling of the grass clippings to an upstanding position. The bottom plate unit (63) has a shortening mechanism for shortening a distance between a forward end of the bottom plate unit projecting into the grass collecting duct (6), and the pivot shaft.

    • A lawn mower for directing grass clippings to a grass catcher. The lawn mower includes a vehicle body and a mower unit supported by the vehicle body to be vertically movable for varying a height thereof above the ground. The mower unit includes a housing, cutting blades rotatable about vertical shafts, and a grass clippings discharge channel connected to the housing and opening downward for rearwardly directing grass clippings cut by the cutting blades. The lawn mower further includes a grass collecting duct for connecting a discharge opening of the grass clippings discharge channel to the grass catcher, and a receiving plate having a receiving surface for covering the downward opening of the grass clippings discharge channel. The receiving plate is pivotable about a transverse shaft between a grass clippings guiding position in which the receiving surface extends parallel to a flow of grass clippings through the grass clippings discharge channel and a grass clippings removing position in which the receiving surface has a large tilt angle relative to the ground. A swing range limiting mechanism is provided for reducing a swing range of the receiving plate as the mower unit is lowered relative to the ground.

    • A lawn mower having a driver's section and a grass cutting unit forwardly of a vehicle body; an engine mounted between front and rear wheels; and a pair of main frames extending longitudinally of the vehicle body, each of the main frames including a front frame member, and a rear frame member connected to the front frame member and disposed at a lower level than the front frame member. The engine is mounted below the main frames between the front and rear wheels, and has a radiator disposed rearwardly of the engine and having an upper portion projecting upwardly of the rear frame members. The engine is surrounded by a first cover assembly including side covers depending respectively from the main frames, lower covers connecting the respective side covers to lower positions of the engine, and a front cover for closing an area forwardly of the engine. The first cover assembly defines first ambient air intake openings. A second cover is disposed rearwardly of the driver's section for covering the upper portion of the radiator. The second cover defines a second ambient air intake opening in a forward portion thereof. Cooling air flows produced by a fan disposed adjacent the radiator are drawn through the first and second ambient air intake openings, at least a large part of the cooling air flows being exhausted rearwardly through the radiator.
