    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display apparatus that has quick response performance, excellent contrast, simple structure, and excellent stability, and capable of performing stable display of a high resolution and high quality image for a long time.
      SOLUTION: The image display apparatus is provided which includes at least: a pair of transparent electrode layers; an optical shutter layer formed between the pair of transparent electrode layers; and a light absorption layer, and forms a reversible image, wherein the optical shutter layer is formed from a polymer dispersed liquid crystal or an element that has an electric-optical effect. The image display apparatus for monochrome display or full-color display is also provided which is the image display apparatus, wherein the light absorption layer is black or formed from at least four colors, i.e., cyan, magenta, yellow and black, and forms a matrix pattern in which the colors are regularly arranged.

    • A secondary battery 100 includes a positive electrode current collector 221 and a positive electrode mixture layer 223 which is coated over the positive electrode current collector 221. The positive electrode mixture layer 223 includes a positive electrode active material 610, an electrically conductive material 620, and a binder 630. In addition, the positive electrode active material 610 has secondary particles 910 formed by an aggregation of a plurality of primary particles of a lithium transition metal oxide, a hollow portion 920 formed in the secondary particle 910, and through holes 930 penetrating the secondary particles 910 so as to connect the hollow portion 920 and the outside. A ratio (Vbc/Va) of an inner volume Vbc of holes formed inside the positive electrode mixture layer 223 to an apparent volume Va of the positive electrode mixture layer 223 satisfies 0.25≦(Vbc/Va). In addition, in a section of the positive electrode mixture layer 223, a ratio (Vb/Vc) of an inner volume Vb of holes B formed inside the positive electrode active material 610 to an inner volume Vc of holes C formed outside the positive electrode active material 610 satisfies 0.05≦(Vb/Vc)≦2.5.

    • A battery includes a current breaking mechanism 20 provided in a battery and configured such that an external terminal 21 connecting a terminal rivet 31 connected to a power generating element 16 to an electrode terminal is provided with thick portions 48 and 49 and a breakable portion 45 so that the thick portions 48 and 49 are continuous through the breakable portion 45 only. The battery further includes: the terminal rivet 31 placed passing through a closing plate 12 forming a part of a battery case 11, a part of the terminal rivet 31 located outside the battery case 11 being placed on the thick portion 48 of the external terminal 21 in close contact relation, the terminal rivet 31 having a through hole 32; and a sealing cap 25 covering an exit of the through hole 32 on the outside of the battery case 11 and being joined to the external terminal 21 over the entire circumference of the through hole 32 or joined to both the external terminal 21 and the terminal rivet 31 across them. When the internal pressure of the battery case 11 rises, at least part of the sealing cap 25 is moved away from the battery case 11, deforming a part of the external terminal 21, thereby breaking the breakable portion 45.
