    • PURPOSE:To prevent the solidification of a molten metal around an upper nozzle to be exchanged of a vessel contg. the molten metal and the remaining of the molten metal in said vessel and to discharge the whole molten metal by adjusting the length of the upper nozzle to approximately the same level as the level of the eroded laying brick and the remaining surface of a tuyere. CONSTITUTION:The position at the top end of the upper nozzle 1 is made approximately equal to the top surface of the laying brick 4 and the tuyere 3, by which the remaining and solidification of the molten metal around a plug 1 are obviated. The upper nozzle 2 having the short length is used when the position of the top surface of the brick 4 and the tuyere 3 lowers due to eroding. The upper nozzles 2 having stepwise different lengths are therefore prepd. and are properly exchanged according to the eroding condition. The plug 1 is fitted and mounted to the upper nozzle 2 prior to fitting and mounting of the nozzle 2 into the tuyere 2 then the nozzle 2 is inserted into the tuyere 3 and is thereby fitted and mounted therein in order to avoid the mounting of the plug 1 in the vessel contg. the molten metal.

    • PURPOSE:To close and mount surely only the plug into the outflow hole in the base of a vessel without the need for cooling the vessel for a molten metal by mounting refractories to the outside peripheral surface in the lower part of the plug and pressing the same atop the nozzle brick forming said outflow hole thereby pressurizing the refractories. CONSTITUTION:The top end of a metallic pipe 3 is pressed onto the nozzle brick 6 or tuyere brick 7 so as to be made concentrical with the outflow hole 1. The refractory plug 2 is fixed by a support 4 to the inside of the pipe 3 and the castable refractories 5 are packed to the outside periphery in the lower part of the plug 2 according to the eroded condition of the brick 6. The support 4 is lowered by the pressure from a supporting bar 9 by which the refractory plug 2 and the refractories 5 are integrally closed and mounted into the tuyere 12 of the hole 1.
