A plurality of rack frames are resiliently mounted in a casing. Communication equipment is mounted in a plurality of boxes made of steel their wall members and tops being filled with polyurethane foam and their entire inner surfaces lined with a hardboard. The interior of each box, Fig. 3, is divided into a front compartment 5 having disposed therein a distributing frame 6 and a line register 7 associated with an external cable, and a rear compartment 8 containing a cross-bar type switching system 9. The rear compartment is ventilated and both compartments are sealed against water and dust. The telephone exchange system in the rear compartment 8 is mounted on a plurality of rack frames 22, Fig. 12, each frame 22 comprising upstanding main posts 25, upper frame member 38 having a channelled cross-section and a lower frame member 45 also having a channelled cross-section. The upper frame members 38 of adjacent racks are fixed to each other by members 27 and adjacent rows are connected together by channelled crosssection reinforcing members 41. In order to maintain the frames fixed in relation to the walls of the box reinforcing members 39 are bolted between the last row of frames and the side of the box. The reinforcing members 39, 41 act as cable racks for cables 42. In order to damp vibrations of the main posts 25 cushion members 28 are adhesively fixed between adjacent frames at the mid points of the main posts 25. The rack frames are mounted to the floor of the box by means of bolts 43 and nuts 48, the lower member 45 being sandwiched between cushion members 44, 46 as shown so that each rack frame can be levelled by tightening or slackening nut 48. The distributing frame 6; Figs. 9, 10 comprises a plurality of vertical rods, rods 29 supporting terminal boards 31 and rods 30 supporting breakers 32. Wires from the terminal boards and breakers pass through wire guides 34 to distribution rings 33, the latter being provided with cut outs 35 for individually disconnecting a line of circuit breakers or terminal boards for a connection operation.

CONSTITUTION:A copper pipe 8 is pressed into the bore of the cylinder section 7b of a collar 7, the copper pipe 8 is brought into contact with the ridge portion of a groove 7c, the copper pipe 8 is pressed and hooked into the cylinder section 7b, and a gap is formed at the valley portion of the groove 7c between contact faces of the copper pipe 8 and the cylinder section 7b. The collar 7 and the copper pipe 8 are pressed and fixed, a brazing copper ring is wound near the slant section 7a of the collar 7 on the outer diameter of the copper pipe 8 and copper-brazed in a furnace, the brazing filler metal flows into the gap formed by the groove 7c provided over the whole periphery of the contact face between the collar 7 and the copper pipe 8, and the collar 7 and the copper pipe 8 are copper-brazed.
