    • PURPOSE:To allow a simple exposure system to make image pickup of a moving picture compatible with image pickup of a still picture by sweeping out a charge after the start of aperture closing. CONSTITUTION:In the image pickup device provided with an image pickup element 3 applying photoelectric conversion to an incident optical image, an electronic shutter control means 6 controlling a charge storage time by sweeping out the charge of photoelectric conversion in the image pickup element 3, and an aperture 2 limiting the incident luminous quantity to the image pickup element 3 and making image pickup of a still picture available by closing the aperture 2, the charge is swept out after the start of closing operation of the aperture 2. That is, the aperture 2 is kept open or at a position in the vicinity of opening for the exposure control of image pickup of a moving picture and the electronic shutter is used for exposure control. When a still picture pickup instruction is commanded, since the electronic shutter speed is updated in interlocking with the closing aperture, the still picture is picked up in a short exposure time. Thus, the image pickup device making the image pickup of a moving picture compatible with that of a still picture is realized inexpensively with a small size by using a differentiation control type aperture used for a general-purpose video camera.

    • PURPOSE:To attain exposure control by which the effect of a direct incidence light source is eliminated and an object is displayed brightness in response to an irregular reflectance of the object. CONSTITUTION:Luminance information A of a luminance versus frequency distribution is generated by detecting frequency distribution for each luminance level and for each unit time from a luminance signal generated by a signal processing circuit 4. A microcomputer 5 converts each luminance level into an illuminance of an object image by using aperture information B, electronic shutter speed information C and signal gain information D to obtain an illuminance versus frequency distribution. Since a direct incidence light source in existence in an object contributes a very high illuminance in the illuminance versus frequency distribution, only the illuminance of an irregular reflecting body is an object for the illuminance versus frequency distribution by excluding the direct incidence light source. A maximum illuminance is obtained from the illuminance versus frequency distribution. The aperture information B, electronic shutter speed information C and signal gain information D are set so that the part with the maximum illuminance gives an optimum luminance signal level.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video signal reproducing apparatus capable of recording a still picture during recording of a moving picture.
      SOLUTION: A moving picture video signal outputted from a CCD video sensor 3 is converted into a digital moving picture video signal by an analog/ digital converter 5, encoded by an MPEG CODEC 11 or a JPEG CODEC under the control of a microcontroller 9, and recorded in a recording circuit 10. When a shutter trigger is received from an input terminal 15 by a user's shutter operation, the microcontroller 9 forms still picture instruction information and attaches the information to an image (frame) encoded by the MPEG CODEC 11 or the JPEG CODEC as user data. In the case of reproducing a still picture from the recording circuit 10, the user data are searched to extract the encoded image to which the still picture instruction information is attached, and the MPEG CODEC 11 or the JPEG CODEC decoded the encoded image to reproduce the still picture.
