    • PURPOSE:To reduce head positioning errors caused by head attaching errors by calculating a dislocation amount between a recording head and a reproducing head, detecting the head gap width center dislocation of both heads and a head track width center disslocation and compensating a head position decision. CONSTITUTION:The data signal of signals read by a reproducing head 10 via a switch 19 is inputted to a reproducing circuit 15 and the servo signal of signals read by the head 10 via a switch 9 is inputted to a servo control circuit 18. The dislocation amount d1 against the central line of the width of the track T1 of the reproducing head 10 on one track T1 and the dislocation amount d2 of the head 10 on the other track T2 are detected by a circuit 15 based on the data signal. The track T1 direction dimension (a) and a shift (b) in the dimension of the width direction of a recording head 9 and the reproducing head 10 are calculated from the amounts d1 and d2 by an arithmetic circuit 6 and by these values, the head positioning is compensated.

    • PURPOSE:To realize a high-speed seek action in the seek of a short distance by permitting the mechanism to execute the seek action at a high speed when a remaining seek distance is made within the stroke range of the second transducer access mechanism of a high-speed small stroke. CONSTITUTION:A seek distance discriminating circuit 23 compares the seek capable distance of a second transducer access mechanism (SAM) with a necessary seek distance sent from a seek distance calculating circuit 21 at the time of starting the seek and with the remaining seek distance sent from a subtracter 22 after the seek is started, a positive signal and a negative signal are sent to an access mechanism switching circuit 24 when the seek capable distance of the SAM is large and small, respectively, and a changeover to a second circuit side and to a first circuit side is executed when he signal is positive and negative, respectively. When the output signal of the seek discriminating circuit 23 is positive, namely, when the remaining seek distance is smaller than the seek capable distance of the SAM, a connection through the secondary side second circuit of the circuit 24 to a twenty-first circuit of a seek/following switching circuit 32 is executed, and a control circuit 30 execute the seek action with the second actuator of the high-speed small stroke based on position information.
