    • PURPOSE:To permit good recording all the time even when the properties of ink and ambient temperature of recorder are changed as well as enable small and large-diameter ink particles to be exactly controlled with respect to charge by recording signals by a method in which both of small-diameter ink particles and large-diameter ink particles are generated by a given phase difference. CONSTITUTION:The exciting voltage of a nozzle 1 is initially set to the minimum value of a sweeping range. The exciting voltage value is then swept on the logalithmic scale by command from a control computer 5. At the same time, a small width of test signals which are in a fixed phase relation with exciting wave forms are formed by a test signal-forming circuit 11 and applied to a control electrode 12a. Sweeping is made from the initial value to a voltage value to be generated when small-diameter ink particles 3 are separated with a phase thetak independently of large-diameter ink particles 2. A phase switching circuit 10 is driven by command from the computer 5, the phase of test signals from the circuit 11 is shifted by pi to investigate whether large-diameter ink particles 2 are separately generated near the phase of thetak+pi. The same operations are repeated to find out an exciting voltage value at which the separating and generating phase of small-diameter ink particles 3 becomes thetak+pi.

    • PURPOSE:To enable not only dither method recording, but also density pattern method recording, using a dither method recording circuit, by calling one line recording signals stored in a memory a plural number of times and by constituting them to enable comparison respectively with thresholds within a dither matrix. CONSTITUTION:The constitution is made up with the first signal producing circuit necessary to perform recording of a density pattern method; the second signal producing circuit necessary to perform recording of a dither method and a data selector 23 and a transfer switch 24 necessary for transferring of the density pattern recording and the dither recording. Within the constitution stated above, recording signals of one line stored in shift registers 3-6 are called a plural number of times with the uses of a clock pulse generator 12, a frequency divider 14, a line signal generator 13, a counter 15, a counter 17, a decoder 18, an inverter 19, AND gates 16-20, and etc. in accordance with the connection diagram herewith, and the comparison with respective thresholds in the dither matrix is made feasible.

CONSTITUTION:Pressurized ink 14 supplied to a nozzle 11 is subjected to vibration by the fact that an electromechanical conversion element 12 is applied exciting voltage Ve from an exciting source 13 and excited, and the vibration is transmitted to an ink column 1 to separate ink into ink particles. Here, the fluid resonant frequency fr of the ink 14 in the nozzle 11 is shown by the formula (in the formula C is the velocity of sound in the ink 14, L is the length of the nozzle, and (n) is an integral number over 1). Ink particles 2 with always uniform size are obtained even if nozzles in which spread of manufacture accuracy is found are used by setting the frequency of the exciting voltage V of an electromechanical conversion element 12 that is mounted on a nozzle such as the nozzle 11 at F=fr/2(1-a).

    • PURPOSE:To perform favorable multi-gradational recording by using large and small diameter ink droplets, by operating a means for generating a charging voltage for large diameter ink droplets at the time of recording by use of the large diameter ink droplets, operating a means for generating a chaging voltage for small diameter ink droplets at the time of recording by use of the small diameter ink droplets, and performing switching of an ink droplet generating mode during a non-recording period. CONSTITUTION:A sine wave supplied from a high frequency power source 16 to dropletize an ink through excitation of a nozzle 21 is controlled in voltage by a volume control 17 so as to generate small diameter ink droplets, and is controlled in voltage by a volume control 18 so as to generate large diameter ink droplets. A relay 19 selects either one of a large diameter ink droplet exciting voltage sent from the volume control 18 and a small diameter ink droplet exciting voltage sent from the volume control 17, then the selected voltage is amplied by an OP amplifier 20, and is applied to a piezoelectric element 22. Switching a large diameter ink droplet generating mode to a small diameter ink droplet generating mode or vice versa is set in the period for which a non-recording area is detected by a sensor 25, namely, in a non-recording period in a recording operation.

And, an excitation voltage (v)n at which the value of ¦Wn-Wn¦ is the smallest is sought, and the value is used and set as a nozzle excitation voltage.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain steady recording by surely charging small size particle, by a method wherein the generating zone of small size particle is detected in a broad range and the phase adjustment of separation timing of small size particle and of charge signal to small size particle is accurately carried out. CONSTITUTION:When the amplitude of exciting voltage (e) of high frequency power source 3 is changed, the generating mode of ink particle and the length lP of ink column 9 are changed. When the exciting voltage (e) is increased, the length lP of ink column 9 is shortened and the generation mode of ink particle is changed (a)-(d). The separation of small size particle 10 from ink column 9 i synchronized with the frequency of excitation voltage (e) of piezoelectric element 4 and the phase theta of its separation timing is changed by excitation voltage (e) and can be regulated within a range of 0-2pi in this excitation frequency. Thereby, the excitation voltage is regulated and the excitation intensity to the ink injected from nozzle is regulated. Therefore, by sure generation of small size particle 10 and by the sure conformance of information signal and separation timing from small size particle 10, steady sure recording by small size particle can be carried out.
