    • PURPOSE: To control an automobile even when a sensor signal is abnormal without providing the backup exclusive generation means and intake means by installing the intake changeover means for changing over the function of the intake means for taking in the sensor signal and control changeover means based on the result of a condition detection means. CONSTITUTION: The automobile control device is provided with an intake means 2 for taking in a sensor signal and a condition detection means 8 for detecting the condition for changing over the function of a control means 6 based on the state quantity converted by an input conversion means 3 and the controlled variable converted by an output conversion means 5. Based on the result of this condition detection means 8, it is provided with an intake changeover means 9 for changing over the function of the intake means 2 and a control changeover means 10 for changing over the function of the control means 6 and further an input changeover means 11 for changing over the conversion method of an input signal and an output changeover means 12 for changing over the conversion method of an output signal. Thereby, an automobile can be controlled even when the sensor signal is abnormal without providing a backup exclusive intake means.

    • A counter/timer device includes a plurality of registers (105) each capable of performing any of the function of a counter/timer register, the function of a capture register and the function of a compare register, in accordance with a command from a central processing unit, and a plurality of task registers (103) corresponding to tasks which are to be carried out by using the above registers. Each of the task registers stores a task instruction for specifying a counter/timer register and a capture/compare register which are used in a task, and for specifying the operation mode of each of the specified registers. The task registers are scanned to successively read out the task instructions, and each of the read-out task instructions controls the operation of each of registers used in a corresponding task. Thus, tasks corresponding to the task instructions are all carried out at once.
