摘要： Disk array system is presented wherein the plurality of disk array controlling units operate as the sole disk array controller so as to restrain the performance of the cache memory sections of the respective disk array controlling units from deteriorating owing to their physical packaging locations and to maximize the performance thereof in proportion to the number of the controlling units in use. Disk array controller is provided, which controller comprises a host switch interface section, the plurality of respective disk array controlling units provided with a channel interface section, a disc interface section and a cache memory section and a mutual connection network in connection with the channel interface sections, the disc interface sections and the cache memory sections of said respective disk array controlling units. Access performance to the cache memory sections that are dispersedly disposed between the respective disk array controlling units improves so as to enhance the performance of the disk array controller in proportion to the number of the disk array controlling units in use.

SOLUTION: This cluster type disk sub-system is provided with a switch having a table for changing the transfer destination of a request from a host computer, and an access request is transferred to the other channel according to the condition of the destination channel such as a high load or failure, and the channel which receives the access request is made to execute the request processing instead. Therefore, it is possible to execute load distribution or fail-over between the channels or disk controllers without using any special hardware/software at the host side. SOLUTION: This inspection device of magnetic head slider inspects the magnetic head slider by using a read/write tester which is furnished with the magnetic disk, a rotating mechanism to rotate the magnetic disk, a mounting part of magnetic head slider, a positioning mechanism of magnetic head slider, a reading/writing circuit for a read/write signal, and a control part for controlling the operation of the whole device, then the decision is made whether the magnetic head slider is accepted or not in such a manner that the floating amount of the magnetic head slider is successively reduced and the changing amount of the time interval between read out signals of the signal written into the magnetic disk in the circumferential direction of the magnetic disk is measured every time the floating amount is reduced, then the changing amount of the time interval is compared with the allowable value of the time interval changing amount to detect that the reduction of the floating amount is repeated by specific times.
