摘要： A channel box for nuclear-reactor fuel assemblies (MOX fuel assembly) containing plutonium is provided, capable of properly controlling excess reactivity without mixing neutron absorber or burnable poison into a fuel rod. In the channel box for a nuclear-reactor fuel assemblies, there is no gap between tne channel box (1) and members (4) containing burnable poison because the members (4) containing burnable poison are in the channel box. The burnable poison does not directly contact the reactor water. Alternatively, the burnable poison members are on a water rod (3).

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the increase of height of a reactor pressure vessel and reduce construction cost by large-sizing fuel assemblies, enlarging the grid pitch for loading them more than specific value and inserting the control rods having a cross shape cross section in the position outside the channel boxes in the both sides of a diagonal of each fuel assembly. SOLUTION: The gap width between fuel assemblies 2 where control rods 3 are inserted is kept and fuel assemblies 2 are enlarged, and the cross sectional area fraction in a channel box 1 in the core cross section is increased. Without reducing the cross sectional area fraction of fuel rods 14a and water rods 14b, flow area fraction where boiled coolant passes in the channel box is increased. By this, the pressure loss in the core 4 is reduced and the drive force of the cooling water becomes small. Also, as the grid pitch for loading a fuel assembly 2 is enlarged over 220 mm accompanied by the large-sizing of the fuel assembly 2. However, as control rods 3 having a cross shape cross section are inserted in the diagonal position of each fuel assembly 2, the controllability of the core 4 improves.

In the whole cross section plane positioning lower axial part (1/24 to 10/24), the average enrichment of whole 34 fuel rods 4 existing in the second region 7 is larger by 14% than the average enrichment of whole 34 fuel rods 4 existing in the first region 6. Also in the whole cross section plane positioning upper axial part (11/24 to 22/24), the average enrichment of whole fuel rods 4 existing in the second region 7 is made larger by 7% than the average enrichment of whole fuel rods 4 existing in the first region 6.

摘要： PURPOSE: To flatten output distribution in axial direction through cycles by setting the product of the average concentration difference of a conbustible toxic substance between upper and lower parts and the number of fuel rods containing the toxic substance to a specific value or larger. CONSTITUTION: A fuel assembly consists of fuel rods U1-U6 filled with enriched uranium, a short fuel rod P filled with the enriched uranium which is shorter than the fuel rods, and fuel rods G1 and G2 containing a flammable toxic substance gadolinia. Also, two water rods with a large diameter are arranged at a position for seven pieces at a center. The water rod enhances neutron deceleration effect and hence fuel economy at the center. A fuel rod P increases the area of a cooling material channel on the upper section of the fuel assembly and reduces the pressure loss of the flow of the cooling material. A required number of fuel rods G1 and G2 containing gadolinia should be prepared and the gadolinia concentration of a specific number of fuel rods G2 out of them differs between upper and lower parts.

In this case, the values of the γ-ray temperature meters and the local power detectors in the detector assembly 1 and the detector assembly 1a are nearly equal, and so in the case where the γ-ray temperature meter in the detector assembly 1 lost the function, the value of the γ-ray temperature meter in the detector assembly 1a is set to use as substitute of the γ-ray temperature meter in the detector assembly 1 of which function is lost. By using the substitute value, the calibration of the local power detector belonging to the same detector assembly is possible and the number of the local power detectors for monitoring the core state is ensured.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively suppress surplus reactivity by increasing the number of fuel rods on the counter channel fastener side as compared with that of fuel rods on the channel fastener side, and making an arrangement in every other row being in parallel diagonally from the top of another diagonal line with the corner position of a next layer as a starting point. SOLUTION: When the inside of a fuel assembly is divided into a control rod side region and an anti-control rod region by a diagonal line A, the number of gadsolinia (Gd) fuel rods is 10 and 2 for an anti-control rod region and a control rod region, respectively. More specifically, eight more fuel rods exist at the anti-control rod region and a channel fastener 7 is installed at a corner closest to a control rod 9 out of four corners of the assembly. By arranging Gd fuel rods closely, neutrons are screened in the Gd fuel rods, thus delaying the combustion of Gd. Therefore, even if the average degree of concentration of the fuel assembly is increased, surplus reactivity can be effectively suppressed by delaying the combustion of Gd fully.

摘要： PURPOSE:To provide a fuel assembly and a reactor core in which an initial loading core of high degree of burn-up excellent in the operability can be achieved by suppressing the excess reaction even if the average enrichment of core is increased. CONSTITUTION:The fuel assembly comprises fuel rods 1 arranged in a square grid-shape of 9 rows and 9 columns and fuel rods 2 containing a combustible toxic substance, i.e., gadolinia, wherein two thick water rods 3 are disposed at the position of seven central grids. Ten out of twelve fuel rods 2 containing gadolinia do not touch the water rods 3 at all and do not touch, in more than one direction, the outermost and second outermost fuel rod grids at the corner part thereof. Only two fuel rods 2 containing gadolinia are located at the position where one of eight peripheral grids includes the water rod region.
