SOLUTION: An attribute information discrimination section 81 acquires first attribute information for denoting a format of the input video signal and second attribute information for representing a transmission characteristic of the video signal. An image quality adjustment amount calculation section 84 obtains an optimum image quality adjustment amount applied to the video signal on the basis of the acquired first and second attribute information items. A video processing section 16 adjusts the image quality of the video signal on the basis of the optimum image quality adjustment amount and outputs the result to a video display section 17. The second attribute information includes a bit rate, a resolution, and a frame rate of the video signal.

SOLUTION: One field for displaying one picture of a plasma display panel comprises a plurality of sub-fields, and a pixel includes a plurality of cells emitting light beams of mutually different colors. Sub-fields to be used are selected by cells constituting a pixel to display a multi-level color image. For example, a control unit sets the number of times of sustain discharge of each sub-field to the standard number of times for a reference cell group as one of cell groups by colors constituting pixels based upon a display mode wherein the tint of the color image is set. Further, the control unit sets the number of times of sustain discharge of at least one of the sub-fields to the number of times less than the standard number of times for adjustment cell groups except the standard cell group. SOLUTION: Between a punch-through stopper layer 7 and an n-type semiconductor region 2D forming a drain of a memory cell MC, an n- type semiconductor region 8 whose impurity concentration is substantially lower than the n-type semiconductor region 2D is provided, to relax the electric field at a junction of the punch-through stopper layer 7. Thus, even if the punch-through stopper layer 7 having a function to prevent a short channel effect is provided while a control gate of a non-selected memory cell is applied with a negative voltage to suppress a leak current at writing, the drain-disturb phenomenon is prevented.

The light emitting plane of a group cluster is constituted by mutually connecting the groups 91a, 91b and 91c. The rear side of the light emitting plane is supported by struts A61 and B71. In this case, the light emitting elements are fixed so as to mutually incline their optical axes. The groups 91a, 91b and 91c are provided with the mechanisms for mutually changing the direction of the light emitting planes so as to adjust the direction of light to be radiated. The strut A61 can move in X-Z direction (211-a) and the strut B71 can move the X-Y plane (211-b). Since the surface of the ceiling to be irradiated with light radiated from a light emitter is widened, the range to install a reception side terminal is made wider.
