    • 1389096 Colour television tubes HITACHI Ltd 28 Nov 1972 [29 Nov 1971 19 Jan 1972] 54876/72 Heading H1D A connecting lens for use in the lighthouse method of producing a shadow-mask colour television phosphor dot screen, which may be of block matrix type, has each surface divided into a plurality of areas of plane or curved surface by lines of surface gradient discontinuity, the superimposed lines on the two sides of the lens intersecting one another to define a plurality of lens regions designed to reduce misregister, while permitting easier manufacture of the lens than for the case in which all the gradient discontinuities occur on one surface of the lens. The lines of discontinuity may on each side of the lens be straight and parallel, but oriented in different directions on the two sides, e.g. perpendicularly in Fig. 5B, in which 903 represents a vertically oriented ridge, or the lines on one side may be concentric circles (Figs. 18 and 19, not shown). A variety of surface configura. tions is shown in the drawings; a central portion of one or both surfaces may be plane and perpendicular to the lens thickness (Fig. 23, not shown); and the area on one side of the lens may all exhibit on inclination in the same sense (Fig. 10, not shown), or may exhibit inclinations of opposite sense, as in Fig. 5B. The lens may be produced by applying an aluminium or silver film to a laquer mother mould; nickel plating on this film; and then casting thereon a substantial base layer of copper or nickel, whereafter the base and the metal layers are removed from the mother mould and constitute a final mould, between a pair of which a sheet of heated acrylic resin is pressed to form the lens. The lens may, alternatively, be formed by bonding together two resin sheets, each contained, by the above method, only on one surface.

    • A magnetic bubble memory element comprising a magnetic bubble memory unit and a separating region portion, which is prepared by the steps of forming a plurality of island shaped magnetic bubble memory units with separating regions intervening therebetween on a single crystalline substrate and performing the cutting process along the separating regions. In a preferably prepared memory element, the magnetic bubble memory unit and the separating region portion own in common a single crystalline magnetic thin layer which is formed on the substrate and the memory unit further comprises a hard bubble suppression film deposited on the magnetic thin layer, a conductor pattern layer and a magnetic film pattern layer both of which are deposited in that order on the suppression film so as to be insulated therefrom as well as insulated from each other. In another preferably prepared memory element, the memory unit and the separating region portion own in common the single crystalline magnetic thin layer and the hard bubble suppression film, and the memory unit further comprises the conductor pattern layer and the magnetic film pattern layer both of which are deposited in that order on the suppression film so as to be insulated therefrom as well as insulated from each other.
