摘要： An information recording medium has a Co-Si oxide thin film (1) constructed such that columnar crystals (2) are separated by an intergranular phase (3) which contains SiO2 having a lower coefficient of thermal conductivity than the columnar crystals (2). Therefore, the intergranular phase (3) prevents heat transfer from one columnar crystal (2) to another. In addition, the intergranular phase (3) separates columnar crystal (2) from each other, so that the crystalline structure of each columnar crystal (2) is not affected by its adjacent columnar crystal (2). The advantage of such construction is that the columnar crystals (2) do not undergo phase transformation except for those which were given energy necessary for phase transformation directly from the laser beam and hence columnar crystals (2) overheated by the laser beam do not affect their adjacent columnar crystals. Thus it is possible to accurately form recording pits whose mark length is smaller than the laser beam diameter.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head suitable for ultrahigh density magnetic recording by constituting at least one of the upper and lower cores from crystal grains consisting of a specified oxide and a specified oxide precipitated on the interfaces of the crystal grains. SOLUTION: At least one of the upper and lower cores of the magnetic head consists of a soft magnetic thin film which has soft magnetic characteristics and which is composed of crystal grains of one kind of oxide selected from cobalt oxide, iron oxide, chromium oxide and nickel oxide, and of at least one kind of oxide selected from silicon oxide, aluminum oxide, tantalum oxide and zinc oxide precipitated on the interfaces of the crystal grains. The structure of the crystal grains observed from the film surface shows a hexagonal honeycomb structure. The crystal grains are two-dimensionally and regularly arranged and the cross sectional structure of the crystal grains shows a columnar structure.

A recording layer 17 is formed on the substrate 2 and the recording and reproducing of the information signals are executed. The intrusion of the resin into the recessed pits of a stamper is obviated by forming the marks 4 in such a manner, as the viscosity of the resin on the substrate 2 surface is high even if the substrate 2 parts from the stamper and is again pressed thereto at the time of injection molding.
