    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composing/branching filter in configuration, which can deal with the wavelength fluctuation of light to be transmitted and further gets suitable for mass production, concerning the composing/branching filter utilizing Bragg reflection. SOLUTION: This composing/branching filter has a three-dimensional optical waveguide 21 for enclosing light in breadthwise direction and thicknesswise direction and propagating light orthogonally to these directions and gratings 4 and 24 provided on the optical waveguide 21 along the propagating direction of light in order to reflect light 6 of specified wavelength in light 5 propagated through the optical waveguide 21. At such a time, since the optical waveguide 21 at the section provided with the gratings 4 and 24 is equipped with a section to continuously change either the width or the thickness of the optical waveguide 21 along the propagating direction of light at least so that the wavelength of reflectable light can be made into wide band.

    • PURPOSE:To make a magneto-optical disk device thinner by providing a tapered part in the direction in which an optical head is moved by an access mechanism. CONSTITUTION:On a magnetic head 102, a tapered part 108 is provided in the direction in which the optical head 104 is moved by the access mechanism 106, so that the magnetic head 102 is made easy to ride across an edge at the end part of a case 90 of an optical disk cartridge 70. Further, the magnetic head 102 is freely movable in the vertical direction, and a tension coil spring 110 of an elastic member is mounted on the optical head 104 so that the magnetic field is impressed from the position adjacent to the magneto-optical disk 80 without coming into contact therewith. During the loading operation or injecting operation, the magnetic head 102 is retreated to the position where the magnetic had 102 is not in contact with the case 90 of the optical disk cartridge 70, by the access mechanism 106. By this procedure, the magnetic head and the magneto-optical disk are arranged more closely to each other than in the conventional practice and the magnetic field is effectively impressed, therefore, the thin magnetic head is applicable, than the device is made to be thinner.
