    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve productivity by properly keeping a distance between a power lens and an aspherical lens group arranged closest to the image generating source side of the power lens and thereby eliminating physical interference with the power lens, while contriving cost reduction, in a 6-group configuration projection lens device for enlarging and projecting an image on a projection CRT.
      SOLUTION: As the aberration correcting lens (4th group lens 4) arranged on the video generating source side of the power lens (3rd group lens 3), a meniscus lens having negative refractive power with a concavity directed to a screen side is provided. Also, the lens face on the screen side of the meniscus lens is designed to have an aspherical shape in a manner that the curvature becomes greater from the optical axis to a prescribed point in the midway to the outer edge and smaller from the prescribed point to the outer edge. Further, as the base material of the 4th group lens situated closest to the video generating source side of a glass power lens, an inexpensive and highly fluid material having an Abbe constant (vd) ≥57 and a low refractive index (nd) ≤1.500 is used.
