摘要： PURPOSE:To measure retardation quickly, by a method wherein a ratio is determined between an amplitude of a component vibrating with the frequency doubling the rotation frequency of a rotary analyzer and an average DC value component to compute an arcsine value thereof and the results are multiplied by a measuring wavelength to be divided by 2pi. CONSTITUTION:After made parallel with a collimator 2, light from a light source 1 is turned to a linearly polarized light with a polarizer 3 and then, to a circularly polarized light passing through a 1/4 wavelength plate 4. The circularly polarized light passes through a sample 5 to be measured to be turned to an elliptically polarized light, which is made incident into an analyzer 6 turning at revolutions omega with the ongoing direction thereof as axis. The light is focused with a lens 7 onto a photo detector 8 to be converted into an electrical signal and AC and DC components are amplified separately with an AC amplifier 9 and a DC amplifier 10. Amplitude of the AC component is detected with a peak holding circuit 11 and the DC components is pick out with a low pass filter. A ratio is determined with a divider 13 between the results and an arcsine of the ratio is obtained with an arithmetic device 14 to be multiplied by lambda/2pi with an arithmetic device 15.

摘要： PURPOSE:To reduce eccentricity by a method wherein the inner diameter of a base plate and a pattern on the surface of a stamper are made concentric by pushing the side surface of a central jig, abutting against the inner diameter of the base plate and having tapered section, against the inner diameter of the base plate. CONSTITUTION:A shaft 2 is arranged at the center of the stamper having recessed and protruded pattern in accordance with a signal so as to become concentric. Thereafter, a photocuring resin 3 and the base plate 4 are put on the stamper 1 and the central jig 5, having tapered section, is arranged at the central section of the base plate 4 so as to prevent the eccentric arrangement of the base plate. In this case, the jig 5 is pushed by a pusher 6 so as to prevent the movement thereof since the up-and-down movement of the central jig 5 becomes a cause to increase eccentricity. In case the central jig 5 and the shaft 2 are worked so as not to have a clearance between them as much as possible, a replica having small eccentricity may be manufactured because the cause to generate eccentricity is the clearance between the jig 5 and the shaft 2 as well as the same between the stamper and the shaft while the clearance in the inner diameter of the base plate, which has been the cause to increase the eccentricity before, can be restricted as much as possible.

摘要： PURPOSE:To enable the easy checking of the damage of a sliding resistant protective film by forming two kinds of different UV curing resins or the UV curing resin and org. dye on a magneto-optical disk. CONSTITUTION:A 1st UV curing resin 2 is first uniformly spin-coated as the sliding resistant protective film on the disk formed by forming the UV curing resin 4 having information patterns on a disk-shaped substrate 5 and laminating a recording film 3 by sputtering thereof. The 2nd UV curing resin 1 into which a filler material is incorporated is then prepd. under the same conditions and is formed on the resin 2. The 2nd UV curing resin 1 can be formed similarly even by using other org. dyes in addition to the filler material. The checking of the flaws on the protective film by a head touch which arises when overwrite recording is executed by a magnetic field modulation system is thereby enabled from the presence or absence of the upper layer.

摘要： PURPOSE:To prevent formation of burrs on the rim of a substrate and to obtain such a substrate that requires no machining of the rim, by masking the area near the rim of a stamper during irradiation with UV ray. CONSTITUTION:A UV-curing resin 1 is disposed directly on a stamper 2 or with other material interposed on the stamper, irradiated with UV ray 6 for curing to obtain a substrate 7 for a magnetic recording medium having the pattern transferred from the stamper 2. During irradiating the resin with UV ray 6, the area near the outer circumference of the stamper 2 is covered with a mask 5, and preferably, the resin is irradiated on both sides to prevent deformation of the substrate due to curing of the UV-curing resin. By this method, an undesired part of the substrate 7 is not cured, which produces no burrs on the rim. Thereby, a process for machining the rim is not required.

摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain the information recording medium capable of obtaining a large power margin in recording by providing a specified auxiliary film adjacent to at least one surface of a recording film. CONSTITUTION:The substrate of the information recording medium is irradiated with an energy beam to form a recess or a hole in the recording film. The auxiliary film consisting essentially of at least one kind of element selected from a group consisting of Se and S is provided adjacent to at least one surface of the recording film. When the auxiliary film consists essentially of Se and S in this constitution, the stability of the film is increased by adding other elements such as Te, Pb and Bi, and the service life is prolonged. The Se, S and Te are the chalcogenide elements and form a homogeneous solid soln. Since the viscosity of the molten state is increased by the incorporation of Te, the inner diameter of the rim of the formed hole is decreased.

摘要： PURPOSE:To produce a uniform protective film having high surface hardness by forming a protective layer consisting of a mixture composed of a UV curing resin and inorg. matter on a recording film. CONSTITUTION:The previously prepd. mixture 2 composed of the UV curing resin and alumina is coated on a disk-shaped substrate 1 having the recording film 5 on rugged patterns to the same disk shape and a stamper 3 having a flat surface is superposed thereon, then >=10kg load is exerted thereon from above over the entire part of the substrate to force spread the mixture composed of the UV curing resin and the alumina. The mixture 2 composed of the UV curing resin and the alumina is thereafter cured by projecting the UV rays 4 and the stamper 3 is removed. The protective film consisting of the mixture 2 composed of the UV curing resin and the alumina is then formed on the recording film 5 of the substrate. The optical disk having the protective layer of the high surface hardness is thereby obtd.
