摘要： In the tri-level process in which positive and negative latent images are formed on a photosensitive body and then developed using toners of two colors (for example, red and black) charged respectively to opposite polarities with respect to the polarities of the latent images, there has been a problem of degrading the quality of a two-color picture by the appearance of a special phenomenon in which red toner is attached around a black image and black toner is attached around a red image by attraction of the reverse electric field. An exposure control is performed in order to suppress the fringe phenomenon.

摘要： The method controls illuminations for the device using a three level developing process. The occurrence of an edge effect is suppressed by weakening an inverse electric field which generates the edge around a section of an image using an illumination controller. Information based on the edge characteristics may be used as judgement information for setting the illumination control. Only one level of the electric potential of the surface is used as a value for the illumination control. Ferrite and magnetite may be used as a base material of the carrier.

摘要： Developer unit (2) has control unit reacting to output signals received from first toner density detector (2j) to drive developer powder from infeed from mixing unit (3) to developer unit, with infeed of powder into mixing chamber blocked during developer power refill time. Developer unit (2) has developer container (2a) for two component developer powder (D). Lower part of container has conveying roller (2b), developer rollers (2c,d,e) to feed developer to specific section of photosensitive drum (1). Toner density sensor (2j) outputs toner refill signal to control unit (5) when toner density decreases. Controller activates mixing unit roller (3f) to deliver developer to developer unit. Amount delivered is monitored in real time by developer amount sensor (3h). Mixing unit (3) is located between developer unit and toner tank (4). It has mixing chamber (3a) and inlet (3b) to accept developer fed there by roller (2c) and feed roller (3f) to output developer to unit (2). Mixing unit has toner density sensor (3g) which provides signal to activate toner feed roller (4b) by control unit (5).

摘要： The copier produces a latent image on a light sensitive drum with the aid of a light source (3) and a developer the main components of which are a magnetic carrier and a toner. It employs two development rollers rotating in opposite directions along the path of the light sensitive drum (1). The ratio (SI=Vd1/Vp) of the peripheral speed (Vd1) of the first roller (61) to that (Vp) of the light sensitive drum is restricted to a range of 0.5 to 2.5. The direction of movement of the second roller (62) is the same as that of the light sensitive drum and the ratio of their peripheral speeds (S2=Vd2/Vp) is restricted to a range of 1.5 to 3,5 with (Vd2) the speed of the second roller and (Vp) that of the light sensitive drum.

When positively charged toner is used as the first toner, for normal development and negatively charged toner is used as the second toner, for reversal development, as the first toner intruded into the second developer, one whose polarity is reversed to the same polarity as that of the second toner by friction with the second carrier and triboelectric charge quantity is made larger than that of the second toner is used. Thus, the second image part of black is developed with the first toner intruded into the second developer, at the time of forming the second image. Therefore, even if the first toner is intruded into the second developer, a color mixture is not conspicuous.

Since the cleaning device 71 is arranged on an opposite side to the developing device 41 by putting the electrostatic latent image carrier 11 between them, the toner carrying distance becomes shorter in the case of carrying the recovered toner to the developing device 42 of the 2nd image forming device 102 than in the case of carrying the recovered toner to the developing device 41 far from the cleaning device 71.

Thus, because the amount of the electrification of the toner in the developer obtains a fixed value irrespective of the surrounding environment, the development ability becomes stable and the toner concentration is properly controlled.
