    • A flying shear includes upper and lower shear blades for vertically shearing a running lengthy material, a pair of upper and lower drum shafts mounting thereto the upper and lower shear blades, respectively, in positions of the same phase, and upper and lower swing frames supporting the upper and lower drum shafts. In the flying shear, a fulcrum gear is provided on one of the upper and lower swing frames in a running direction of the lengthy material, and shear blade opening and closing means is provided on the other of the upper and lower swing frames in the running direction of the lengthy material for vertically swinging the upper and lower swing frames with the fulcrum gear as a fulcrum, whereby equipment for performing opening and closing motions of the shear blades is increased in rigidity and reduced in shaking to shorten a time required for opening and closing the shearing blades and improve a shearing accuracy.

    • A pair of rolls are opposed in the direction perpendicular to the direction of movement of a steel strip and hold the steel strip between. Molten metal is supplied continuously into the spaces between the paired rolls and the steel strip to form a molten metal bath (reservoir) in the spaces. The surfaces of the steel strip are plated continuously by passing the steel strip through the bath. The molten metal flowing over the molten metal bath passes over the upper parts of the rolls and is collected in a molten metal receiving tray provided below the rolls. Since the surfaces of the steel strip are plated continuously with the molten metal in the molten metal bath formed by supplying the molten metal into the upper spaces between the plating rolls and the steel strip, a large-sized molten metal pot of a conventional hot dipping apparatus can be dispensed with.

    • Multistage rolling mill having a pair of upper and lower work rools, a pair of upper and lower backup rolls, and an intermediate roll provided between at least one of the work rolls and the associated backup roll, all of which rolls are arranged in a substantially vertical direction; intermediate rollers supporting the work rolls in the direction of a path of a work; and support rollers supporting the intermediate rollers, characterized in that each of the support rollers consists of a plurality of axially arranged divided rollers which are staggered in succession in the axial direction of the support roller so that the axis of each of the divided rollers is spaced vertically from that of the adjacent divided roller. Since the work rolls in the rolling mill are supported on the support rollers of the above-described construction, a space can be secured between each of the suppport rollers and the associated backup roll, which supports the work roll in a substantially vertical direction, or the associated intermediate roll. Accordingly, the support rollers and backup rolls or intermediate rolls do not contact each other, so that the diameter of the work rolls can be reduced. Moreover, since each intermediate roller which supports the associated work roll directly is supported reliably by two divided rollers the axes of which are spaced from each other, the work roll can be supported stably. This enables a highly accurate and stable rolling operation.

    • A multi-projection image display device using a plurality of image projectors to form one picture on a screen, in which images projected from the projectors are smoothly connected with one another, so that seams of the images do not appear conspicuously. The image display device has projectors (0121, 0122, 0123, 0124) and a screen (0140) laid out in such a manner that maximum image projection ranges (0151, 0152, 0153, 0154) of the respective projectors ovelap the adjacent ranges. An image signal control unit (0110) for processing an image signal supplied from an external image input (0180) has, therein, a member for cutting out a partial image area dealt with by each projector, an image converting member for performing geometric transformation and local color correction of the partial image, and an arithmetic control member for controlling the image converting member on the basis of image information inputted from a screen state monitor camera (0130). With this structure, smoothing of the seams between the images may be realized simply by image signal processing, and precise adjustment of the optical system of the projectors becomes unnecessary.
