摘要： Addition products of ethylene oxide are formed by passing alcohols, phenols, or their addition products with ethylene oxide or propylene oxide, with ethylene oxide in a molar ratio of 1:1 to 1:4 in the presence of conventional alkaline catalysts, through an extended tube-like reactor having a small cross-section, and surrounded by a heat exchanger, the mixture is at such a pressure that it is in the liquid state and reaches 170-230 DEG C. in the first half of the reactor zone, and in the second half passes through a maximum of 240-330 DEG C., and has a residence time in the reactor zone of 8-150 seconds, and the product leaving the zone is immediately cooled to below 100 DEG C. The process adds on up to four moles of ethylene oxide. Examples describe the addition of ethylene oxide to lauryl alcohol, nonylphenol, a mixture of C12-C14 fatty alcohols and a mixture of unsaturated predominantly C18 alcohols.

摘要： The invention relates to an improvement of the known continuous process for the separation of mixtures of fatty substances of different melting points, in which the starting mixture by treating with an aqueous wetting agent solution is converted to a dispersion of liquid fatty substances and solid fatty substance particles, the formed dispersion is separated into two phases of different specific gravities, the lighter phase consists substantially of the liquid fatty fraction and the heavier phase of a dispersion of the solid fatty particles in the aqueous wetting agent solution. After separation of this suspension the wetting agent solution is returned to the process. The improvement consists in withdrawing a part of the recycling wetting agent solution from said dispersion of fatty particles in the aqueous wetting agent solution by separation of some or all the aqueous solution from the solid fatty particles, the solid fatty particles containing adhering aqueous phase and wetting agent are melted in the presence of an aqueous phase and the molten fatty fraction containing little wetting agent, is separated from the aqueous phase enriched with wetting agent which is recycled and the amount of wetting agent solution withdrawn is replaced with fresh wetting agent solution.

The continuous production of addition products of propylene oxide with alcohols, phenols or addition products of ethylene oxide or propylene oxide with an alcohol or phenol is effected in a process in which propylene oxide and the reactive hydrogen-containing compound are passed, in a molar ratio of from 1:1 to 4:1 in the presence of one of the usual catalysts and under a pressure such that the reaction mixture remains liquid, through an elongated tube-like reactor having a small cross-sectional area, said reactor being surrounded by a heat exchanger such that the reaction mixture reaches a temperature of from 170-260‹ C. in the first portion of said reactor and a maximum temperature of from 260-350‹ C. in the second portion of said reactor, the time between which the reaction mixture attains its maximum temperature and leaves the reactor being not more than 5-30% of the total reaction time which is from 8 to 150 seconds, the pressure being such that the reaction mixture remains in liquid form, the product being cooled to a temperature of less than 180‹ C. immediately after leaving the reactor. Specified examples produce the adduct of 2 mols propylene oxide to 1 mol lauryl alcohol, 2 mols propylene oxide to 1 mol oleyl alcohol, 2 mols propylene oxide to 1 mol of the addition product formed from reacting 2 mols ethylene oxide with a C 12-14 alcohol mixture, 3 mols propylene oxide to 1 mol of the addition product formed from reacting 2 mols ethylene oxide with a C 12-14 alcohol mixture, and 2 mols propylene oxide with 1 mol nonylphenol. Sodium methylate is the catalyst used in each example.

摘要： This invention relates to a glyceride mixture suitable for transformation into a plastic edible fat having a wide plasticity range comprising a mixture of from 93 percent to 100 percent of triglycerides of fatty acids and from 0 to 7 percent of glycerides selected from the group consisting of monoglycerides of fatty acids and diglycerides of fatty acids wherein said glyceride mixture contains from 90 percent to 60 percent of oily glycerides and from 10 percent to 40 percent of hard glycerides where said hard glycerides contain from 10 percent to 75 percent of triglycerides which melt at from 30* C. to 45* C. and which have one unsaturated and two saturated fatty acid moieties per molecule, from 90 percent to 25 percent of glycerides which melt at from 48* C. and 60* C. and which have at least one myristic acid moiety per molecule, and from 0 to 12 percent of glycerides which melt above 60* C. The invention also relates to the process of transforming said glyceride mixture into a plastic edible fat having a wide plasticity range and to the plastic edible fat so produced.
