摘要： In a simultaneous voice and data communication system, a stream of signal points is partitioned into a plurality of symbol blocks, each symbol block including a data segment and a control segment. The data segment carries information from a user, i.e., user data, while the control segment provides control information. A voice signal is then added to at least a portion, or all, of the signal points of each symbol block to provide for simultaneous voice and data transmission to an opposite endpoint. The control information may represent information from a secondary data source, and/or may include information about the characteristics of the succeeding block, e.g., the user data rate, and information pertaining to characteristics of the communications channel.

The digital signal-processing techniques eliminate the need for a splitter by reducing susceptibility to distortion resulting from varying subscriber line characteristics. The digital subscriber line modem can utilize quadrature amplitude modulated (QAM) signals and frequency division multiplexing. The digital subscriber line modem includes a control circuit that implements an echo canceler and an analyzer to reduce near-end cross-talk noise. The analyzer performs spectral analysis to preemphasize or to predistort the transmitted signals in accordance with the cross-talk noise.

摘要： A digital subscriber line communication system does not require the use of a plain old telephone service (POTS) splitter in the resident's home. Digital signal processing is utilized to adapt to varying subscriber line conditions coming from POTS telephone equipment. The digital subscriber line modem includes a control circuit that utilizes a Reed-Solomon decoder and a synchronization error generator. The Reed-Solomon decoder provides a frame error signal, and the synchronization error generator responds to the frame error signal to generate a synchronization error signal. The synchronization error generator is configured as a leaking integrator to provide the synchronization error signal in response to a relatively large number of frame error signals occurring in a period of time. A resynchronization operation is performed in the modem in response to the synchronization error signal.

The method comprises providing a first acoustic device having at least one seismic sensor with communication and control data to communicate over an acoustic energy wave on a first communications channel. The first acoustic device generates the acoustic energy wave with a first wave intensity. The first acoustic device is configured to receive a reflection of the generated wave at a prescribed signal sensitivity level based on a network configuration. If the first wave intensity is below the prescribed signal sensitivity level, the first wave intensity of the acoustic energy wave is tuned to the prescribed signal sensitivity level to interpret the communication and control data provided by the first communications channel.
