    • A liquid crystal driving device is provided, which can reduce the problem of contrast lowering of the liquid crystal display screen due to the decrease of the driving current of LED, by the control which is performed in order to cope with the decrease of the maximum rated current of LED as a light source of the backlight at a high temperature. The liquid crystal driving device includes a liquid crystal driving circuit, a backlight control unit, and display data expansion circuits. The liquid crystal driving circuit generates a liquid crystal driving signal to be supplied to a liquid crystal display panel in response to display data. The backlight control unit reduces driving current of the light emitting diode as a light source of the backlight module to illuminate the liquid crystal display panel, in response to the temperature rise of the liquid crystal display panel. The display data expansion circuit, in response to the temperature rise of the liquid crystal display panel, performs the data expansion of the display data, and compensates the contrast lowering of the liquid crystal display panel due to the dimming of the backlight module with the temperature rise of the liquid crystal display panel.

    • The present invention is directed to improve efficiency in use of a memory for storing display data which is used for an overdrive process. A display driver for driving a display device compresses image display data, stores the compressed data into a memory, and generates a preceding frame by decompressing the data read from the memory. A setting unit divides a display screen of the display device into, for example, a first region as a center part and a second region as a peripheral part. An overdrive computing unit generates overdrive display data in response to a present-time frame and the preceding frame, compresses the image display data in the first and second regions at first and second data compression ratios of small and large values, respectively, and stores the compressed data into the memory. By saving the space of the memory, the picture quality in the first region is improved.

    • A failure diagnosis apparatus for an exhaust pressure sensor for detecting the exhaust pressure in an exhaust gas recirculation passage which connects an exhaust passage and an intake passage of an internal combustion engine. A first preliminary determination that the exhaust pressure sensor is normal, is made when the engine is in a predetermined low load operating condition and a difference between the detected exhaust pressure and the atmospheric pressure is equal to or less than a first determination threshold value. A second preliminary determination that the exhaust pressure sensor is normal, is made when the engine is in a predetermined high load operating condition and the difference between the exhaust pressure detected by the exhaust pressure sensor and the atmospheric pressure is equal to or greater than a second determination threshold value. A final determination that the exhaust pressure sensor is normal, is made when both of the first and second preliminary determinations are made.
