    • A system unit includes a media drive bay. The media drive bay includes a metal drive bay housing configured to receive a media drive. A connector is provided to interface with a connector on a received media drive. A resilient tongue integral with the media drive bay housing is operable to urge onto a received media drive to hold the media drive in place and to ground a casing of the media drive. A detent is provided for latching a latching member attached to the media drive casing. The media drive can be a commercially available media drive for non-removable use, the media drive being modified by the provision of the latching member to provide for removability.

    • A rack mountable system unit includes a housing having first and second sides. First and second elongate plastics slides are secured to respective sides of the system unit. Each plastic slide is dimensioned to slide within a rack mountable rail and is tapered at one end thereof to facilitate insertion into the rail. The tapered end of the slides facilitates insertion into the rails and the use of plastics facilitates sliding. The maximum height of the slide is dimensioned to slide within the rack mountable rail. To further facilitate the sliding of the system unit along the racking, the sides include narrower portions alternating with portions dimensioned to slide within the rack mountable rail. The slides each have a flange and a releasable fixing at a front end thereof for securing the system unit to rack mountable rails. An upper surface of the slide has an alignment mark indicating an alignment position for a corresponding mark on a cover forming the top of the rack mountable unit for facilitating alignment of the mounting the cover on the rack mountable unit. The rack mountable rails are extendable to adapt to different racking systems. Each rack mountable rail has upper and lower bearing surfaces for engaging with upper and lower surfaces of one of the slides. Also, each rail has a flange at a front end thereof configured to mate with the releasable fixing of the slide.

    • A circuit board mount is provided for mounting a circuit board in an electronic equipment housing. The mount is mountable on a surface within the housing and includes a slot for receiving and supporting the circuit board at a first height with respect to the housing surface. The mount further comprises at least one upstand of a second height higher than that of the circuit board, whereby a component can be supported on the upstand without contacting the circuit board. The mount is thus able to support the circuit board and to protect the circuit board during handling of other components within the housing.

    • A fan carrier defines one or more enclosures with each enclosure receiving a fan unit. A first wall of the carrier includes at least one air vent that can be covered by a fire mesh. A second wall is substantially perpendicular to the first wall. The first and second walls form two walls of an enclosure for a fan unit. The second wall extends outwardly from the enclosure to define ears with locating lugs for locating the fan unit in a housing of the computer system. A fan subassembly includes the fan carrier and at least one fan secured therein, whereby the fan assembly can be installed in the computer system much more easily that a fan without the carrier. The fan subassembly can be located adjacent a vented portion of a housing wall of the computer system in a gap in a flange of that housing wall. The ear of the fan carrier is configured to overly a portion of that flange adjacent the gap and with the lug being received in a hole in said portion of the flange. The fan subassembly can then be clamped in place by securing the cover to the housing, the cover clamping the ears over the flange with the lugs in the receiving holes in the flange. This arrangement allows for the fans to be mounted in the computer housing without any tools other than those that may be needed to secure the cover of the housing. This can greatly increase the speed of replacement of a faulty fan unit, as well as facilitating initial assembly of the computer system.

    • An electromagnetic interference (EMI) shield fills an aperture in a wall of a system unit housing. The electromagnetic interference shield is integrally formed from sheet metal (e.g. stainless steel). It comprises a perforated substantially planar portion with fingers defined around the periphery thereof. A plurality of first fingers are preformed to define abutments to abut against an outer surface of the wall and a plurality of second fingers are preformed to define sprung latches for latching within the aperture. The combination of first and second fingers means that the EMI shield can be located in the aperture in a removable manner without the use of tools. The perforations are configured to permit ventilation of the interior system housing while preventing EMI interference radiating from the system housing. A handle portion is also formed at the periphery of the substantially planar portion for facilitating the insertion and removal of the shield.
