    • An electrical connection is provided for connecting electrically transmitting cables and/or wires to one another or any other component in a manner that provides an environmentally sealed connection. The electrical connection includes an electrical connector for connecting electrical cables or wires that includes seals which are disposed in grooves in the threaded portions of the electrical connector. The electrical connector may also include a second set of grooves separated from the first set of grooves, in order to cause moisture and other debris to migrate away from the seals. When the end connectors of electrical cables or wires are connected to the electrical connector, the interior threads of end connectors cover and deform the surface of the seals to create an enhanced seal between the connector and the end connectors. Thus, the electrical connector effectively seals the interface between the connector and the end connectors of electrical cables or wires, such that moisture and other debris are prevented and/or substantially deterred from migrating into the interior of the cable or wire.

    • A compression-type drop wire clamp assembly for use in suspending and directing cables and wires relative to supporting structures, such as a poles or buildings, is provided. More specifically, the improved drop wire clamp assembly is designed for use in suspending and directing sensitive cables and wires, such as fiber optic cables and wires. The drop wire clamp assembly includes a tapered housing, a mating tapered slide assembly, a hanger portion for securing the assembly to the supporting structure, and a shim. The housing and the shim each include a longitudinal groove, as well as gripping surfaces. The fiber optic cable, or other electrical cable, is sandwiched between the housing and the shim within the longitudinal grooves of the housing and shim. The gripping surfaces of the housing and shim engage the cable in such a way as to prevent damage to the cable or wire caused by the compressive force or pressure exerted thereto, while allowing the drop wire clamp assembly to sufficiently secure the cable thereto. That is, the compressive force exerted on the cable is exerted on the more durable support portions of the cable and little or no compressive force is exerted on the signal-carrying portion of the cable. Thus, damage to the signal-carrying portion of the cable, and the attenuation of the signal caused by such damage, may be prevented.

    • A clamping device having a U-shape provides a mechanical and electrical connection between two flat ribbons or strips of electrically conductive material. The strips of material may, for example, be thin copper bars for grounding purposes in an underground telephone vault. One inner surface of the U-shaped clamp includes at least one projecting point which is positioned directly opposed to at least one threaded bolt movably disposed and extending from the opposed inner surface. The free end of the bolt is formed with a complementary recess and an abrading surface surrounding the recess. In a preferred embodiment, a pair of such threaded bolts are offset from each other and are mounted in opposite legs of the U-shaped clamp. The bolts may be formed with a slotted head for securing another conductor or bonding ribbon therein.

    • A universal ground clamp having a clamping strap having a series of holes to facilitate the installation of the clamp onto a wide range of structures of various shaped and sized cross-sections. A metal stud, through which the clamping strap is secured, includes a terminal portion adapted to accommodate and have secured therein a ground wire. In one form, a pair of curved plates supported upon the stud are used to form a tight clamping action of the strap about the structure to be grounded, without subjecting the strap to localized stresses or tearing, but permitting the strap to tightly encircle the structure. One of the curved plates is captivated on the strap with stops. In another form, projections extend from the strap at the hole through which the stud is inserted in order to allow the stud to be readily inserted into the hole and prevent the stud from being inadvertently separated from the strap.
