摘要： A communication assistance system (Fig. 1) is provided having a first database (18, 18') with a plurality of listings, each listing having at least one contact name and a corresponding contact number. A switching device (12) receives calls from a plurality of users (4) desiring to access the listings and an operator terminal (20, 20') receives the communication from the switching device and retrieves a listing from the first database (18, 18'). A first route is provided for handling telephone communications between the operator terminal and the user and a second route is provided with an out-of band (200) processor for receiving information corresponding to call completion information and to provide call completion data (17) to the switching device (12) for completing the call between the user (4) and the requested listing.

SOLUTION: The present invention is directed to a communication assistance system, comprising a first database 18 having a plurality of listings, where each of the listings has at least one contact name and a corresponding contact number. A telephony hardware 12 is provided, configured to couple a telephone device 6 of a user to the system. A past requested listing table is also provided, for at least one of the users of the system, configured to store past requested listings obtained from the database, as requested by the user. The CSR searches the user's personal contact list in accordance wit h the user's request. The CSR's terminal (18) generates a call completion stri ng and sends it to the telephony equipment using an out-of-band signaling netwo rk (28) for release link transfer switching. The user's personal contact list c an be populated by the user via a web browser (10), by interacting with the CSR , by synchronizing a personal information manager or personal digital assistan t database or by sending a facsimile or electronic mail request to the service provider.
