      SOLUTION: The gas sensor includes a control means 16 to implement a normal detection mode that detects flammable gas in a high-temperature operating condition and incomplete combustion gas in a low-temperature operating condition in which the control means 16 is configured to implement an initial detection mode to control the operation of a heating means 2 prior to the normal detection mode so as to switch the gas detection object 1 to the high-temperature operating condition and the low temperature condition in order to detect flammable gas in the high-temperature operating condition and incomplete combustion gas in the low-temperature operating condition based on the electric characteristics of a gas detection object 1 in a pattern that a frequency is greater than that of normal detection modes, that the inflammable gas is detected in the high-temperature operating condition during a comparing setting time that is not greater than an initial detection setting time during an initial detection setting time after receiving combustion initiation operation of the combustion unit.
