    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a capacitance type switch device for controlling detection sensitivity in response to variation of a detection value. SOLUTION: A plurality of detection electrodes 2 each used for detecting proximity of a human body are installed and a detection electrode area is changed over by using switches. When a detection object is separated from this switch device, SWs 1-3 are turned off and a SW 4 is turned on. Thereby, the detection electrode area is set to three times as much as each area of the three detection electrodes 2 and the detection sensitivity is increased. When the detection object is near to the switch device, the SWs 1-3 are turned on and the SW 4 is turned off. Thereby, the detection electrode area is set to an area equivalent to the area of the single detection electrode 2 and the detection sensitivity is set to a standard value.
