摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a disposable injection blow molded tumbler from being easily broken even when dropped in normal use by providing a reusable durability polycarbonate container manufactured by injection blow molding. SOLUTION: This injection blow molded tumbler 10 is molded from polymeric materials and has a reinforcing rim 16 with a wall thickness exceeding those of adjacent side walls 14. In that case, the tumbler may be molded from a number of resin raw materials so that it particularly shows the improved rigidity and compression resistance as well as the aesthetical quality desired by consumers.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an injection blow-molded disposable tumbler, which is excellent in durability and transparency, of which the main component is a polycarbonate, and which can be recycled. SOLUTION: This tumbler 10 has a bottom section 12, a side wall section 14, and an upper circular rim section 16 which is extended around the external surface 18 of the opening 20 of the tumbler 10. The bottom section 12 of the tumbler 10 is integrally formed with a tumbler remaining section, and wraps a bottom part 22 having a meniscus section 24 and a side wall 26 of the bottom. The side wall 26 of the bottom is typically thicker than the side wall 14, and has a taper which is substantially 0.

摘要： A drink-thru lid for a drinking cup including an annular mounting portion f or sealingly engaging the drinking cup, wherein the annular mounting portion includes a downwardly extending annular skirt. The lid further includes a tear-back section extending from the annular skirt to a hinge portion located in a medial portion of the lid. The tear-back section includes a raised protrusion extending outwardly from an upper surfa ce of the lid. A recess is further formed in a medial portion of the lid on the opposite side of the hinge portion from the raised protrusion, wherein the tear-back section may be torn away from the lid on its sides and pivoted about the hinge portion until the raised protrusion is received within the recess for holding said pivotal flap open. The raised protrusion and the recess are shaped such that the raised protrusion is frictionally engaged by the end walls of the recess. The recess further includes a straw slot formed therein, wherein the straw slot is defined by two sloping side walls extending from an upper surface of the lid and converging together at different angles to form a frangible juncture in the deepest portion of the recess.

摘要： A method of making a disposable tumbler includes: injection molding a polyethylene terephthalate resin in an annular mold cavity defined by an injection mold wall and a core to form a resinous parison on the core; separating the parison from the injection mold wall by moving the parison on the core away from the mold wall; moving the parison on the core into alignment with a blow-mold; and expanding the parison by directing a pressurized fluid to its interior such that the parison separates from the core and expands to the surface of the blow mold to form the tumbler, wherein the parison is radially expanded by a factor of at least about 2.6 at its base to form the tumbler. Typically, the parison is radially expanded at its base by a factor of from about 2.6 to about 3.25 to form the tumbler; whereas preferably the parison is expanded by a factor of from about 2.7 to about 2.9. In preferred embodiments of the method, the mold core is provided with a microtextured surface which may be provided by way of vapor-honing to provide a tumbler which resists nest-lock. Moisture, judiciously applied, may likewise alleviate nest-lock. The annular mold cavity is generally thicker than similar cavities which may be employed with polystyrene, for example.

摘要： An injection blow-molded disposable tumbler is formed from a polymeric material and includes a fortified upper rim having a thickness greater than the adjacent sidewall. The tumbler may be formed of a variety of resinous materials and exhibits improved toughness and crush resistance as well as aesthetic qualities particularly desired by consumers. In a particularly preferred embodiment, thick- walled polycarbonate tumblers are prepared from hydrolysis-stabilized polycarbonate compositions while minimizing molded-in stress. In still further embodiments , nanocomposites compositions are used to form the containers of the invention .
