    • The invention relates to an r.f. SQUID with a tank circuit. It is the aim of the invention to provide such a SQUID in which the variability and reliability of the connection betwen the SQUID and the tank circuit are improved over prior art SQUIDs without adversely affecting the resonant frequency and quality of the SQUID. To this end, for the construction of the tank circuit there is a metallic conductive layer on a substrate which is structured in such a way that at least one lateral flat capacitive structure is bonded to a lateral elongated inductive structure. Such a tank circuit produced by the planar layer method provides the desired variability in the connection of the tank circuit to the SQUID by the flip-chip method on a separate substrate, with distance means.

    • The invention concerns a gradiometer comprising two SQUIDs, each of which contains a SQUID loop. The object of the invention is to provide a gradiometer of this type wherein increased measuring accuracy of the magnetic field or of the magnetic field gradient is attained in a comparatively simple manner. To this end the gradiometer comprises SQUIDs disposed relative to one another such that the SQUID loops lie in a plane at a distance of a basic length from one another and a flat flux concentrator (FT1, FT2), parallel to this plane, surrounds the two SQUID loops. A flux concentrator is further provided which is mirror-symmetrical laterally to the base line interconnecting the centres of the two SQUID loops. Advantageously a given desired basic length can be set by suitable structural measures without increasing the inductance and thereby reducing the gradiometer signal.

    • The invention concerns a SQUID comprising a superconductive loop which is formed in layers at the front of a substrate and comprises a Josephson junction, the SQUID further comprising a superconductive resonator. The object of the invention is to provide a SQUID which has a coupled resonator and increased energy resolution with respect to known SQUIDS, low noise and high field sensitivity. To this end the resonator is formed in layers and rigidly connected to the front of a second substrate, the resonator resting against the rear of the first substrate. At the rear the second substrate has a superconductive layer which laterally geometrically corresponds to the structure of the loop of the first substrate with the exception of the coating in the region of the Josephson junction. The substrate material consists of dielectric material.

    • The invention concerns a high-frequency SQUID (HF-SQUID) which comprises a SQUID loop containing at least one Josephson junction. The high-frequency SQUID further comprises a flow-focusing structure of superconductive material acting as a high-frequency resonator. The object of the invention is to create a high-frequency SQUID which has operating frequencies of above 1 GHz and overcomes the disadvantage of low flow-focusing whilst simultaneously having low residual noise and high magnetic field sensitivity. Consequently, it should be possible to operate the sensor at high frequency and the sensor should be of high quality and have sufficient flow focusing. The object is achieved in that the flow-focusing structure is such that it simultaneously acts as a tank circuit in that one or a plurality of resonant modes are used to couple the high frequency power into the SQUID loop.
