    • In one embodiment, a method is provided that may include encrypting, based least in part upon at least one key, one or more respective portions of input data to generate one or more respective portions of output data to be stored in one or more locations in storage. The method of this embodiment also may include generating, based at least in part upon the one or more respective portions of the output data, check data to be stored in the storage, and/or selecting the one or more locations in the storage so as to permit the one or more respective portions of the output data to be distributed among two or more storage devices comprised in the storage.     • Provided are techniques for booting and provisioning a platform connected to a boot and provisioning server including a server boot and provisioning system. The server boot and provisioning system receives a platform identifier, selects a platform specific boot image based on the platform identifier in response to determining that the platform identifier is valid, and selects a platform specific configuration policy based on the platform identifier in response to determining that the platform identifier is valid. Also provided are techniques for booting and provisioning a platform connected to a boot and provisioning server, wherein the platform includes a platform boot and provisioning system. A platform boot and provisioning system issues a request with option tags in response to determining that the platform is enabled to interact with a boot and provisioning server, issues a download request to obtain a boot image, and executes the boot image in response to determining that a signature of the boot image is valid.

    • A server platform (SP) having a local node (LN) and a peer node (PN) that responsive to a platform error (PE) at a local node, which is not resolvable at the processor abstraction layer (PAL), determines if there is a PN with an available network interface card (NIC), and if so, the media access control (MAC) address of the LN is sent to the PN so that the PN can handle operations for the LN and the MAC address of the LN is disabled. Error recovery is next performed at either a system abstraction layer (SAL) or by the operating system (OS), and if the PE is resolvable by the SAL or the OS, the LN is enabled with the MAC address of the LN and the LN resumes normal operation. However, if the error is not resolved, then the LN re-boots and resumes normal operation at a later point.

    • Embodiments of a method and system for saving system context after a power outage are disclosed herein. A power agent operates to reduce the possibility of data corruption due to partially written data during an unexpected power outage. The power agent can determine an amount of time remaining before a power store is depleted. Based on the amount of time, the power agent can store system context information. Correspondingly, the power agent can operate to save complete system context, partial system context, or flush (I/O) buffers. Once power is restored, the power agent can restore the system context based on the nature of the save. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
