    • A physiologic data acquisition system includes an analog input, a sigma-delta front end signal conditioning circuit adapted to subtract out DC and low frequency interfering signals from and amplify the analog input before analog to digital conversion. The system can be programmed to acquire a selected physiologic signal, e.g., a physiologic signal characteristic of or originating from a particular biological tissue. The physiologic data acquisition system may include a network interface modulating a plurality of subcarriers with respective portions of an acquired physiologic signal. A receiver coupled to the network interface can receive physiologic data from, and send control signals and provide power to the physiologic data acquisition system over a single pair of wires. The network interface can modulate an RF carrier with the plurality of modulated subcarriers and transmit the resulting signal to the receiver across a wireless network. An integrated circuit may include the physiologic data acquisition system. Also included are methods for acquiring physiologic data comprising the step of selectively controlling an acquisition circuit to acquire the physiologic signal.

    • A safety system helps prevent injury from falls from stacks of containers while loading and unloading container ships using an overhead trolley crane. The crane is of the type including a frame movable in fore and aft gantry directions, a trolley track supported by the frame and a trolley movable along the trolley track in on shore and off shore trolley directions. The trolley includes a container bridle which lifts and lowers the containers during loading and unloading operations. Workers walk on the containers to place and retrieve stacking cones at the corners of the containers. The workers ride in a cage on the bridle in getting onto and off of the containers. The operational status of the crane-normal speed, slow speed or stopped-is visually indicated to the worker by colored lights on the cab. Each worker is tethered to the bridle by a short (6'), two piece safety line in case the worker falls off the stack of containers. Each worker has a transmitter which can be used to stop the bridle in an emergency.

    • A visual locating device for use as an aid in finding lost persons, wherein the device comprises a high-pressure cylinder having a lighter-than-air gas stored therein, and a valve means to control the flow of gas therefrom and into an inflatable balloon.     • A programmable error amplifier (PEA) that may be used as part of a voltage regulation subsystem to control the output of a digitally programmable voltage source is disclosed. According to various embodiments, the PEA comprises an amplification circuit, an analog voltage sampling circuit and a digital reference voltage sampling circuit. The amplification circuit may employ a negative feedback configuration, and include an amplifier and a plurality of feedback capacitors. The analog voltage sampling circuit is responsive to an analog input voltage (such as the output of the programmable voltage source) and is coupled to the amplification circuit. During a first operational phase (the sampling phase), the analog voltage sampling circuit stores a charge dependent upon the analog input voltage, and during a second operational phase (the conversion phase), the analog voltage sampling circuit transfers the charge to the feedback capacitors of the amplification circuit. The digital reference voltage sampling circuit is responsive to a digital programming word and also is coupled to the amplification circuit. During the first (sampling) phase, the digital reference voltage sampling circuit stores a charge dependent upon the digital programming word, and during the second (conversion) phase transfers the charge to the feedback capacitors of the amplification circuit. A differential voltage based on the difference between the analog voltage and a reference voltage determined by the digital programming word appears across the input terminals of the amplifier.

    • An information integration environment identifies the current drilling sites, and drilling equipment and processes at those current drilling sites. Based upon that identification, and upon data received from the drilling sites, servers access and configure software agents that are sent to a host client system at the drilling site; these software agents operate at the host client system to acquire data from sensors at the drilling site, to transmit that data to the information integration environment, and to derive the drilling state and drilling recommendations for the driller at the drilling site. These software agents include one or more rules, heuristics, or calibrations derived by the inference engine, and called by the information integration environment. In addition, the software agents sent from the information integration environment to the host client system operate to display values, trends, and reliability estimates for various drilling parameters, whether measured or calculated.
