    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating waste, by which a toxic substance can be restrained from being eluted from waste containing the toxic substance, particularly, boron, fluorine, selenium or chromium.
      SOLUTION: The method for treating waste comprises a mixing step of adding cement and lime to the waste containing the toxic substance and mixing them and a hydrothermal treatment step of subjecting the mixture obtained at the mixing step to hydrothermal treatment. The toxic substance is one or more of boron, fluorine, selenium and chromium. The ratio of the total amount of the cement and lime to be added to the waste to the amount of the waste is 5-60 mass%. The mass ratio of the amount of the lime to be added to the waste to the total amount of the cement and lime to be added to the waste is 0.1-0.9.
