摘要： A method and arrangement in a mobile terminal such as a UE for selecting a transport format for an uplink transmission to a base station, wherein the selector selects a transport format from a set of transport formats which are generated based upon parameters of a radio connection established with the base station. Upon establishing a radio connection, the base station sends parameters to the UE describing a radio bearer configuration. The UE generates a set of transport formats based upon the radio bearer parameters. A classifier then classifies each of the transport formats in the set as either power-efficient or power-inefficient. When a grant is received from the base station, the UE derives a set of allowed transport formats. A transport format selector then selects a transport format that is both power-efficient and allowed.

摘要： A method and system enable matched filters of a CDMA system to be simplified using a two stage search. A course stage and a fine stage jointly produce the locations(s) of received signal path-rays. In a first stage, an oversampled digital signal (240) is decimated, and the decimated signal (415) is applied to a matched filter (420) to eventually produce an approximate location (460). In a second stage, the oversampled signal (240) is shifted based on the determined approximate location (460) and then correlated to a generated code (440), and a more-exact location is selected from the outputs of the correlations (450). Alternatively, a shifted version of the generated code (440) is correlated to the oversampled signal (240), and the more-exact location is selected from the outputs of those correlations (450).

摘要： Methods and structures for quickly and accurately measuring interference associated with a received signal in a CDMA radiocommunication system are described. Interference measurement is performed by despreading a received signal using a channelization code which is reserved from a finite set of orthogonal channelization codes. The reserved code is not used (or is rarely used) for spreading traffic and, therefore, provides an estimate of the interference associated with a received signal when a receiver correlates the received signal with the reserved code.

摘要： An initial search for locating cells in a telecommunication system includes defining a set of carrier frequencies to be searched, and selecting as a cell search mode either a wide cell search mode or a narrow cell search mode, wherein selecting the cell search mode is based on a level of frequency generation accuracy. The wide cell search mode searches a wider frequency range than the narrow cell search mode searches. For each carrier frequency in the set of carrier frequencies to be searched, a most-recently selected cell search mode is used when searching for a cell transmitting on the carrier frequency. The narrow cell search mode is used only when the level of frequency generation accuracy is better than an expected worst level of frequency generation accuracy.

In a preferred embodiment, the technique is realized by transmitting at least one first access channel probe for a first message from a mobile station to a base station, wherein the transmission power level of each access channel probe in the at least one first access channel probe is increased until a base station acknowledgment is received for a specific access channel probe of the at least one first access channel probe at a first transmission power level. The first transmission power level is then stored at the mobile station.
