    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve stability of rotation in the radial direction, and eliminate a bearing device and the like so as to compact a turbo molecular pump, by setting a ratio H/D of the height H to a pump main body and the maximum diameter D to a specific value or below. SOLUTION: A rotary cylindrical part 2 is rotatably supported between a cylindrical casing 3 and a fixed shaft 1 projected from a bottom plate 4. Three-stage rotary blades 7a-7c are formed on the outer surface of the rotary cylindrical part 2, and two fixed blades 8a, 8b formed on the inner surface of the easing 3 are alternately sandwiched among the rotary blades 7a-7c. A ratio H/D of the height H of a pump main body to the maximum diameter D f is set to flatness of 0.7 or below. An axial magnetic bearing 11 is arranged between an annular projection 9 on the upper inner side of the rotary cylindrical part 2 and a horizontal surface to which the upper recess 10 of the fixed shaft 1 is opposed, and a radial magnetic bearing 13 is arranged between opposed cylindrical surfaces below the axial magnetic bearing 11. The radial and axial magnetic bearings 13, 11 are arranged in a position where the whole centroid of the rotary cylindrical part 2 including the blades is sandwiched in the axial direction, therefore, by this arrangement, it is enough that the radial bearing is axially arranged in only one place.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a turbo vacuum pump capable of compressing gas from high vacuum to the atmospheric pressure, keeping a rotor rotating at high speed with high accuracy, and being inexpensively manufactured. SOLUTION: The turbo vacuum pump is equipped with a rotation shaft 1 extending over approximately the whole length of the pump, a discharge part 10 formed by alternately arranging rotor blades and stator blades in a casing 2, and a bearing motor part 50 having a motor 51 which gives rotation driving force to the rotation shaft 1 and bearings 53, 54, 55 for rotatably supporting the rotation shaft 1. In the turbo vacuum pump, a gas bearing 40 is used as a bearing which supports the rotation shaft 1 in a thrust direction. Spiral grooves 45 are formed on both surfaces of a stationary side section 41 of the gas bearing. The stationary side section 41 formed with the spiral grooves 45 is sandwiched between an upper rotating side section 42 fixed to the rotation shaft 1 and a lower rotating side section 43.
