摘要： Method and apparatus for printing an image-wise ink pattern on a receiver. A primary imaging member includes a series of substantially equal-sized cells located over the substrate surface thereof. The primary imaging member has an electrically conductive layer. An ink jet printhead selectively ejects drops of ink into the primary imaging member cells in a desired image-wise ink pattern. The image-wise ink on the primary imaging member is fractionated to separate the liquid in the ink. A receiver is transported into operative association with the primary imaging member, and a transfer mechanism applies a pressure between the receiver and the primary imaging member, and establishes an electrostatic field to transfer the image-0wise ink pattern to the receiver.

摘要： An ink jet device selectively ejects droplets of non-marking liquid ink into cells of a printing member in a desired latent negative image pattern. Certain cells of the printing member are filled with pigmented ink to create a desired image. An electrical bias is applied for fractionating pigment in the pigmented ink from liquid and transferring an image-wise pigmented ink pattern from the printing member to a receiving member, leaving behind a substantial portion of liquid. The receiver can be an intermediate member whereby the image-wise ink pattern is transferred from the intermediate member to a final receiver, while such receiver is in operative association with said intermediate member.

摘要： Printers with variable receiver supply are provided. In one aspect a printer is provided having a source of image data and production data for use in printing a set of images, with each image having a defined size and shape and a receiver supply having a web of receiver and a cutter adapted to cut the web of receiver to a determined length. The printer also has print engine to print the images on the receiver and a finishing system that is configurable between at least two configurations. A user input system receives user input from which a priority setting can be determined between an output rate priority and an efficiency priority; and a controller determines the configuration of the finishing system, receives the image data and production data and determines a priority setting. The controller determines an organization of the images for printing the images on the receiver in the defined sizes and shapes based upon the determined priority setting and the determined configuration of the finishing system and the controller determines a length of the receiver based on the organization of the images and causes the cutter to cut the web of receiver to supply the determined length of the receiver.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a flexible transfer member as an intermediate body at forming an image, especially forming a multicolor image, by providing a flexible layer and a thin, but, hard layer which is laminated on the flexible layer, and installing a series of electrodes capable of separately addressing so that they may be separated from the thin hard layer while being partly put into the flexible layer. SOLUTION: An intermediate transfer member 1 is formed out of the flexible layer 35 with the thin hard covering layer 37. In the flexible layer 35, the electrode 40 which can be separately addressed is separated from the thin hard layer 37 in a state where the electrode is partly put into the flexible layer 35. The electrode 40 is separated from the thin hard covering layer 37 at least by 0.5mm. As for the flexible layer 35, the Young's modulus is Pa., preferably, it is within the extent of 1×10 Pa. to 5×10 Pa. The value obtained by dividing the resistance value ratio by the thickness of the flexible layer 35 is within the extent of 10 Ω to 10 Ω. As for the thin hard covering layer 37, usually, the thickness is =10 Pa., the resistance ratio is >=10 Ωcm.
