摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To substantially prevent a charger from being contaminated with a particulate, fiber, etc., by selectively supplying an air flow having positive pressure to a housing in the operation of a guide support member by a reproducing device and an air flow having negative pressure to the housing when the guide support member is stationary. SOLUTION: When the guide support member 22 operates for the charger 26, the environment in the charger is brought under positive pressure. Air having passed through a filter so as to remove particulates and fiber is allowed to flow into a charger housing 28 from an air supply source through a conduit under the selective control of logic and a control unit L. When the charger 26 is stopped about the guide support member 22, the air flow from the supply source has negative pressure derived by passing through the conduit under the selective control of the logic and control unit L and is so supplied that contaminants separate from the surface of the guide support member.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformly electrostatically charge dielectric members moving along a travel pass operatively associated with a corona charger by using specific irregularly arrayed grids. SOLUTION: A variable load cycle AC charger 10 has corona wires 12, grids 14 and a shell 16. The grids 14 has plural grid elements arranged in a direction crossing the moving direction (arrow 36) of the dielectric member 20 and the spacings between the grid elements decrease substantially with respect to the moving direction (arrow 36) of the dielectric member 20. For example, the width of the grid elements (fine members) are 0.025 cm in an in-track direction. The grids 14 are in-tracks of nearly 6.1 cm in width and are divided to nearly equal three sections A to C. The in-track spacings between the respective fine members are 0.2 cm in the upstream section A, 0.13 cm in the central section B and 0.05 cm in the downstream section C.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a flexible transfer member as an intermediate body at forming an image, especially forming a multicolor image, by providing a flexible layer and a thin, but, hard layer which is laminated on the flexible layer, and installing a series of electrodes capable of separately addressing so that they may be separated from the thin hard layer while being partly put into the flexible layer. SOLUTION: An intermediate transfer member 1 is formed out of the flexible layer 35 with the thin hard covering layer 37. In the flexible layer 35, the electrode 40 which can be separately addressed is separated from the thin hard layer 37 in a state where the electrode is partly put into the flexible layer 35. The electrode 40 is separated from the thin hard covering layer 37 at least by 0.5mm. As for the flexible layer 35, the Young's modulus is Pa., preferably, it is within the extent of 1×10 Pa. to 5×10 Pa. The value obtained by dividing the resistance value ratio by the thickness of the flexible layer 35 is within the extent of 10 Ω to 10 Ω. As for the thin hard covering layer 37, usually, the thickness is =10 Pa., the resistance ratio is >=10 Ωcm.

摘要： The image copying equipment includes first and second elements (22,24) which have a photo-conductive surface on which an image can be formed. The first of the these (22) may be a drum, whilst the second may be a flexible belt (24) running around a series of rollers. A set of elements (28,30,32, 48,43,34) is provided to form a toner image on the drum, whilst a further series of elements (29,31,33,49,45,35) is mounted around the path of the belt in order to form a second toner image on the belt. The image on the drum is transferred to the belt with control to ensure alignment of the two images. At least one of the two photo-conductive surfaces (24) is flexible, having a modulus of elasticity of less than 5E7 Pascals, preferably between 1E6 and 1E7 Pascals. It is relatively thin, with a thickness of between less than 15 micrometres.

The photo-conducting layer has a thickness of at least 7 to 15 micron. A toner image from the carrier surface (8) is transferred to the receptor sheet via a controlled gap using an electric field.
