    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for cleaning contaminated soil, in which a high cleaning effect is attained without using a liquid chemical such as an acid, an alkali and an organic solvent, and the cleaning operation and process control are made easy. SOLUTION: This method for cleaning contaminated soil comprises the steps of: breaking contaminated soil into fine grains; separating fine-grained soil having the particle size smaller than that of fine earth; putting the separated fine-grained soil in a cleaning tank together with a cleaning promoting particle; washing the fine-grained soil by supplied washing water while agitating them; separating the cleaning promoting particle from the washed fine-grained soil; separating minute soil from the resulting fine-grained soil; and recovering/dehydrating the minute soil-separated fine-grained soil to obtain cleaned soil. One or more of sand, water-granulated slag, crushed slag, activated carbon, zeolite, iron particles, and iron powder, each of which has 1-10 mm average particle size, are used as the cleaning promoting particle.
