摘要： A beam splitter for color imaging apparatus is disclosed. The beam splitter comprises two prism elements which are joined together with a dichroic interference filter interposed between the two elements. An input beam to the beam splitter is divided into a first output beam which is reflected from the filter and a second output beam which is transmitted through the filter. In order to provide a beam splitter of a generally triangular cross section in which one of the output beams has the desired spectral content for a luminance channel in the imaging apparatus and the other output beam has the desired spectral content for a chrominance channel, the interference filter is formed of alternate layers of SiO.sub.2 and TiO.sub.2 and is disposed such that an input light beam to the beam splitter has a relatively small angle of incidence on the filter.

摘要： An illumination system for a film scanner is disclosed which comprises a light source and optics for providing a line of light on a film. Light transmitted through the film is imaged onto photosensor elements such as CCD arays. In order to obtain a high quality electronic image, a xenon light source is used, color filters are included in the system to control the spectral content of the light provided to the film gate, and an integrating cylinder is used to provide a line of diffuse light on the film.

摘要： A telecine scanner is selectively conformed to evaluate the dye densities characteristic of either negative or print film. The film is interposed in a light path between a light source and a pickup stage that develops a plurality of color output signals from the light passing through the film. Color channel filters included in the pickup stage have spectral passbands in the respective colors that are broad enough to include the spectral dye densities of both negative and print materials. The scanner sensitivity is further limited to a particular film material by inserting an appropriate shaping filter set into the light path, preferably between the light source and the film, for conforming the peak sensitivity of at least one of the passbands to the peak spectral density of the corresponding dye of the particular film material.

The spatial light modulator (40), is illuminated uniformly by laser diode emitters (12) comprising laser diode array (11), and the spatial light modulator (40) break up the light into image elements, which are subsequently imaged to a media plane (60), to form a desired pattern of spots.

An illumination section (130) directs the illumination beams for modulation by the LC modulator panel. Beam-shaping optics (130) homogenize and focus the beam of light and color splitting optics (132) separate focus beam of light into separate color beams. A first modulation optics system comprises a prepolarizer (212), which prepolarizes a first color beam; a wire grid polarization beamsplitter (224), which transmits a first predetermined polarization state of the prepolarized beam; a reflective spatial light modulator (204), which alters the transmitted prepolarized beam with information and reflects the image bearing first color beam through the wire grid polarization beamsplitter (224); and a wire grid polarization analyzer (228), which transmits the image bearing first color beam and attenuates unwanted polarization components. A recombination prism (232) combines the first color beam from the first modulation optical system with other image bearing color beams to create a full color image bearing beam. A projection lens system (150) projects the full color image bearing beam onto the display surface (140).

Two of the identical polarizer packages can be crossed and used in a transmissive optical device.
