      SOLUTION: The combustion pressure sensor 1 detects a combustion pressure in a combustion chamber 61 of an internal combustion engine. The combustion pressure sensor 1 includes: a hollow housing 2 which is attached to a sensor insertion through hole 62 bored in the internal combustion engine so that its tip side is positioned to the side of the combustion chamber 61; a transmission member 3 slidably inserted and arranged to an axial hole 22 of the housing 2 so that a tip pressure receiving part 31 is exposed from the tip part of the housing 2 to transmit the combustion pressure of the combustion chamber 61; an abutment member 4 fixed to the tip part of the housing 2 and an outer circumferential surface of the transmission member 3 and which has an abutment part 41 for abutting against an inner wall of the sensor insertion through hole 62; and load detection element 5 mounted on a mount part 42 provided to the abutment member 4 and detecting variation of the load acting between the housing 2 and the transmission member 3.

The second cell 12 has the solid electrolyte 10, a second anode electrode 12a, a second cathode electrode 12c, and a gas-impermeable shielding body 13 covering the second anode electrode 12a. A voltage is applied to the first cell 11 to measure the total current of proton conduction and electron conduction. A voltage is applied to the second cell 12 to measure the current value of electron conduction of the solid electrolyte 10. The concentration of the gas to be measured is detected from the difference between the current value of the first cell 11 and the current value of the second cell 12.

In this constitution, such face contact in the whole area of a pressure receiving face as that in a prior art is not required, because the bending member 121 is bent by the load transmitted via the transmission member 11, and because the piezoelectric element 122 is deformed followed to the deformation of the bending member 121, so as to reduce the dispersion in the output sensitivity and to stabilize the characteristic, even in the small preload.
