    • This invention provides oilfield spooled coiled tubing production and completion strings assembled at the surface to include sensors and one or more controlled devices which can be tested from a remote location. The devices may have upsets in the coiled tubing. The strings preferably include conductors and hydraulic lines in the coiled tubing. The conductors provide power and data communication between the sensors, devices and surface instrumentation. The coiled tubing strings are preferably tested at the assembly site and transported to the well site one reels. The coiled tubing strings are inserted and retrieved from the wellbores utilizing an adjustable opening injector head system. This invention also provides method of making electro-coiled-tubing wherein upper and lower adapters are connected to the coiled tubing and tested prior to transporting the string to the wellbore. The string preferably includes pressure barriers at both ends of the string. The string also includes a power line, hydraulic lines, data and communication lines and the desired sensors and devices for use with an electrical submersible pump.

    • An electrical cable and a method for manufacturing the electrical cable are provided in which a plurality of insulated conductors have a protective jacket extruded thereabout, the protective jacket having an exterior ribbed surface which includes a plurality of longitudinally extending ribs between which extend a plurality of thermal expansion voids. The protective jacket is formed from a thermally set elastomeric material which is partially cured, and then a protective exterior armor is helically wrapped around the exteriorly ribbed surface of the elastomeric, protective jacket. Then, the electric cable is heated to an elevated temperature for a period of time which is sufficient for fully curing the elastomeric protective jacket formed therein.

    • An electrical cable connector for connecting an electrical cable to an electric motor, especially in an oil well. The electrical cable connector includes a hollow cylindrical housing receiving a portion of the electrical cable therein and a sealing assembly for sealing the space between the cable and the housing to prevent the corrosive material in the oil well from eroding the electrical connection. The sealing assembly includes a disk rigidly coupled to the housing and a movable disk axially biased towards the other disk. A sealing plug is positioned between the two disks and comprises a substantially uncured flowable, incompressible seal material sandwiched between a pair of cured rubber sealing disks. The movable disk asserts pressure on the sealing plug so that the flowable material will flow into any otherwise empty spaces between the sealing disks and the cable and between the sealing disks and the housing.

    • A cable for transmitting high voltage electricity for use with an electric submersible pump has a plurality of solid conductors for conducting electricity along the length of the cable. The solid conductors are uniformly and firmly bonded to the surrounding insulation with a thin bonding layer applied directly over the conductor. A layer of conductive fabric tape surrounds the insulation to form an outer stress control layer. The insulated conductors are surrounded by an extruded layer of lead. A second layer of fabric tape surrounds the lead. An armored outer layer surrounds the insulated conductors and the lead. Space between the insulated and wrapped conductors and the armored outer layer is filled with a jacket material.
