The defoamer and dispersant can be added as a physical mixture, wherein the defoamer is attached onto the dispersant polymer, or a combination thereof. In some embodiments, a gypsum building panel is made from the gypsum slurry.

摘要： The present invention is directed to cementitious dry cast mixtures for forming cementitious articles, particularly a cementitious dry cast mixture containing a dispersant, wherein said dispersant is a derivatized polycarboxylate dispersant which is a polymer comprising units derived from at least a substituted carboxylic acid monomer or substituted ethylenically unsaturated monomer, and optionally including at least one of an unsaturated hydrocarbon, an N-polyoxyalkylene maleimide, and a condensation product of an unsubstituted carboxylic acid monomer and an alkoxypolyoxyalkylene primary amine substituted carboxylic acid monomer. The cementitious dry cast mixture has a reduced effective dose of dispersant; compacts and consolidates in response to vibration energy; reduces the cycle time in the production of articles manufactured from dry cast mixtures; provides for increased green strength, density, and early compressive strength; and improves the surface aesthetics of articles manufactured from dry cast mixtures. Additionally, a surface active agent/air entraining agent can be included in combination with the dispersant to provide for increased swipe effect.

摘要： An acoustical panel is made by applying a thin, acoustically-transparent coating to an acoustical base mat. A pulp is made from one or more fillers, a fibrous filler, a binder and water. A thickener solution is prepared from a thickener and water. A portion of the pulp and the thickener solution are mixed under high shear conditions to degrade the fibrous filler and form a smooth coating. The coating is applied to and distributed over a base mat and the coated base mat is then cut and dried to form a coated acoustical panel. The panel is free of visible mineral nodules on the surface of the coating. Optionally, the pulp is a portion of a pulp used to make the base mat. Other embodiments include the use of recycled dust or fine particles of the acoustical panel obtained from cutting or shaping the base mat or coated panels.

The derivatized polycarboxylate dispersant, alone or in combination with other derivatized polycarboxylate dispersants, is a polymer comprising units derived from at least one of a substituted carboxylic acid monomer and a substituted ethylenically unsaturated monomer, at least one of an N-polyoxyalkylene maleimide and a condensation product of an unsubstituted carboxylic acid monomer and an alkoxypolyoxyalkylene primary amine substituted carboxylic acid monomer, and optionally including an unsaturated hydrocarbon. The derivatized polycarboxylate dispersant provides for a longer shelf life dispersant, improved dispersability of cementitious mixtures, water reduction in cementitious mixtures, and is an effective dispersant in high pozzolan replaced cementitious mixtures.

摘要： A cementitious formulation comprising a cement and an oligomeric dispersant is provided. The dispersant is a reaction product of two or three moieties. The first moiety (A) is a nonpolymeric, functional moiety that adsorbs onto a particle, and wherein one or more A moieties together contain at least two residues to provide attachment of the dispersant onto a particle to be dispersed. The second required moiety (C) is a linear or branched water soluble, nonionic polymer that provides the dispersing capability. A third moiety (B), if present, is a nonpolymeric moiety disposed between the first and second moiety, to connect the first and second moieties. A method is provided for dispersing a cementitious formulation comprising a cement in water, including providing in said cementitious formulation the above oligomeric dispersant. A combination of any cement dispersant with an oligomeric dispersant wherein at least one A moiety is blocked is also provided in a cementitious formulation and in a method of making such cementitious formulation.
